Job Title: School Marshal and LPS Safety and Security Coordinator

Primary Purpose:
Ensure the safety and security of Leadership Prep School campuses facilities students staff and visitors. Coordinate emergency preparedness law enforcement response and safety initiatives. Serve as a certified School Marshal and lead efforts in security operations emergency planning and safety education.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Bachelors degree (preferred)
- Valid Peace Officer Certification (TCLEOSE) (preferred)
- Coursework or certification in public safety emergency management school safety or related fields (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of emergency operations planning NIMS FEMA and applicable safety law
- Familiarity with criminal investigations law enforcement procedures and report writing
- Proficiency in security-related technology (e.g. surveillance systems access control mass notification)
- Strong interpersonal organizational and public relations skills
- Effective verbal and written communication including policy and report drafting
- Ability to manage multiple projects and respond effectively under pressure
- Exceptional judgment work ethic and attention to detail
Standards
- Pass annual fitness exam (Cooper Test or VO2 Test)
- Achieve 90% on annual pistol qualification
- Pass psychological evaluation upon hire and every two years
- Maintain Texas School Marshal certification each year.
Experience:
35 years in safety security or law enforcement (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Safety and Security Operations
Supervise and direct the daily safety and security operations across all LPS campuses
Ensure LPS campuses are 100% compliant with the TXSSC requirements
Be the point of contact and district lead for the Texas Education Agencys Sentinel data application.
Organize and Lead District Behavioral Threat Assessments (BTA) District Vulnerability Assessments
(DVA) and Intruder Detection Audits (IDA) as required by TXSSC.
Attend all required TXSSC trainings and train administrators to implement all relevant safety requirements and protocols
Respond to emergencies and coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency responders
Monitor and report safety hazards breaches and irregularities
Monitor district surveillance systems and provide campuses with pertinent information
Conduct internal investigations and prepare incident reports
Implement and evaluate security systems and protocols
Provide security coverage for afterhours school functions and extracurricular events
Develop and implement preventative safety programs and drills
Conduct and support mandated safety audits and emergency preparedness exercises
Work in partnership with local LEA and local school districts to ensure EOP procedures are ready to be implemented.
Administration of the campus Raptor system.
Respond and organize all emergency operations support in conjunction with campus LEA/SRO and campus administrators.
Conduct and record weekly door audits at each campus
Maintain and supervise access control and key inventory systems logs for each campus
School Marshal Duties
Take law enforcement action when imminent threats arise
Maintain visibility and vigilance to deter unauthorized access and ensure campus safety
Collaborate with campus principals to develop safe procedures (e.g. drop-off/pick-up graduation and campus events)
Promote awareness of the School Marshal program through presentations and community engagement
Complete Servant Leader criminal history reviews and compliance with district safety guidelines
Complete all training and certification requirements to be a certified school Marshall in the State of Texas
Training and Development
- Attend required professional development and law enforcement training
- Stay current with Texas laws emergency planning practices and safety technologies
- Present safety-related curriculum to students staff and parents
Administrative and Strategic Planning
- Coordinate strategic planning budgeting and resource allocation for safety initiatives
- Maintain records reports and documentation in compliance with state and federal laws
- Lead or participate in district safety committees and stakeholder meetings
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards
Mental Demands:
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office and security equipment including computers and surveillance systems
- Posture: Frequent standing and sitting; occasional bending stooping and twisting
- Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse
- Lifting: Occasional light lifting (up to 50 pounds)
- Environment: Exposure to indoor and outdoor conditions; irregular hours; districtwide and statewide travel
- Mental Demands: High-stress emergency environments; frequent interruptions; emotional control under pressure
