Job Description & Summary

We are seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with Development Expertise to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing optimizing and securing SQL Server databases while also contributing to database development efforts such as creating stored procedures query tuning and supporting application teams. This role requires a balance of administration performance optimization and development skills to ensure both stability and innovation within our database environments.

Roles and Responsibilities

Database Administration

Install configure and maintain SQL Server instances across environments (Dev QA Prod).

Manage backup/recovery processes and implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.

Monitor SQL Server performance and proactively resolve issues related to blocking deadlocks and resource utilization.

Development & SQL Programming

Design develop and optimize complex T-SQL queries stored procedures functions and triggers.

Support developers with database design query tuning and code review.

Compare and synchronize database schemas across environments to maintain consistency.

Performance Tuning & Optimization

Analyze execution plans and optimize queries for performance improvements.

Implement indexing strategies and statistics management to enhance query performance.

Identify bottlenecks and troubleshoot issues impacting application/database performance.

Documentation & Process Improvement

Document database processes schema changes and procedures.

Automate repetitive DBA tasks with scripts and monitoring solutions.

Recommend and implement process improvements for efficiency and reliability.

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

Strong SQL Server administration skills (installation configuration maintenance).

Advanced T-SQL development skills (stored procedures functions triggers views).

Proven experience in query performance tuning and optimization.

Experience with schema comparison tools.

Good understanding of relational database design and normalization principles.

Exposure to cloud-hosted SQL databases (Azure SQL AWS RDS etc.) is a plus.

Scripting skills (PowerShell Python or similar) for automation are a plus.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or a related field.

4 years of experience in SQL Server Database Administration and Development.

Microsoft certifications (e.g. MCSE: Data Management and Analytics Azure Database Administrator Associate).

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or a related field.

4 years of experience in SQL Server Database Administration and Development.

Microsoft certifications (e.g. MCSE: Data Management and Analytics Azure Database Administrator Associate).
