The opportunity
We are looking for an R&D Project Manager to join our Technology & Solutions Development (Business R&D) organization in HVDC at Hitachi Energy in Sweden. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a talented team of engineers and lead R&D projects focusing on the development of innovative solutions for HVDC applications.

How youll make an impact:
As an R&D Project Manager you will lead cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge projects in the realms of Internet of Things (IoT) Digital Twins Digital Services and Advanced Analytics. You will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of R&D initiatives from ideation to implementation ensuring alignment with strategic goals and delivering impactful results.
- Set up and execute R&D projects together with your project team ensuring alignment with our strategic R&D portfolio and innovation roadmap.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans including timelines resource allocation budgets and risk assessments while tracking progress against key milestones.
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively working closely with your team to anticipate challenges and implement effective risk management strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive technical exploration and solution development including requirements analysis feasibility studies and documentation of outcomes.
- As an R&D Project Manager you will be a part of the R&D Project Management Office contributing to the continuous improvement of our processes and quality standards. You will collaborate with colleagues to share knowledge support one another and foster both individual and team development.
Your Background
- University degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in technical fields such as Electrical Engineering Electronics or Computer Engineering complemented by several years of relevant industry experience.
- Proven project management experience in delivering complex scalable software solutions preferably within industrial or technology-driven environments.
- Solid knowledge of Internet of Things (IoT) digital twins digital services and data analytics supported by a strong foundation in applied software and digital engineering and experience with agile methodologies.
- Experience with or a keen interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with HVDC FACTS or substation automation technologies is a plus.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across global multi-site teams.
- Passionate about both people and technology with a collaborative structured and open-minded approach to teamwork and problem-solving.
