About the role

We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join the South Coast Region team within NSW Public Works a division of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. This position is office based however requires you to make regular site inspections. The role is working as a client-side project manager being responsible for delivering one or more construction projects of low or medium risk and complexity. Alternatively you may be assigned to a team managing the delivery of highly complex projects.

As a NSW Public Works Project Manager you will be expected to manage and contribute to the planning and delivery of building and civil infrastructure projects and ensure time cost quality safety and environment targets and corporate expectations are met. Our Project Managers are responsible for the management and administration of contracts including claims evaluation and negotiation.

The role provides an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and participate in business development activities contributing towards opportunities for repeat and new business.

About You

To be successful in this role our ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in managing the planning procurement and delivery of Building and Civil projects.
  • Strong communication and relationship skills with an ability to influence positive outcomes and provide excellent client service.
  • Leadership qualities and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong self-starting motivation and a desire to succeed.
  • A natural inclination to assist others and work in a team.
  • Experience in managing contracts preferably MW21 and GC21 contracts.
  • Degree qualifications in Engineering (Civil) and equivalent knowledge skills and experience with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Excellent professional writing skills.
  • Effective computer skills.
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to travel if required.
  • Well-developed knowledge and understanding of current Work Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
  • Employment screening checks security or other clearances and health assessments.
