MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To deliver safe comprehensive and quality peri-operative nursing care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
- Deliver safe comprehensive and quality peri-operative nursing care in collaboration with a multi-professional team
- Identify and prevent risks to ensure patient safety
- Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing and surgical interventions
- Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charted
- Create a learning environment that builds staff competence
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Diploma in Operating Room Nursing / Certificate in Peri-operative Nursing Science
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
1 years experience in an operating theatre environment
- Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and protocols
- Pharmacology
- Scientific nursing principles and process
- Nursing record keeping
- Patient assessment skills
- Nursing processes and procedures
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
- Develop/ modify a nursing care plan
- Relevant nursing legislation
- Basic life support trained (ACLS; ATLS; PALS training for specialised wards)
- Risk identification
