POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Landscaping Program Field Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the
programs AmeriCorps team members achieve program goals by overseeing the day-to-day
work of installing community gardens. The Field Supervisor works closely with the CLP
Program Manager to understand and help shape project goals and schedules shadows the
Program Manager in connecting with community and assessing community needs and
leads the team to achieve project goals and deadlines by taking a proactive approach to
keeping the team informed about weekly targets and daily workload. The Field Supervisor
ensures that the team has the tools and knowledge to achieve project goals by providing
training on project tasks and seeing that they are equipped to perform their roles
effectively in the field. The teams work includes lot cleanup bed preparation and
installation of hardscapes fences and other features according to designs developed by the
CLP Program Manager in consultation with community groups. The Field Supervisor is
directly responsible for fostering team morale and helping to evaluate the professional
development of AmeriCorps members in the program for informing them of daily activities
and expectations overseeing their work and training as needed in the field and helping to
prepare for plan and supervise volunteer addition the Field Supervisor is
responsible for leading the team in maintaining team equipment project materials CLPs
plant inventory and for securing the CLP shop vehicles and equipment each day. The Field
Supervisors administrative responsibilities include tracking AmeriCorps team member
hours evaluations and PAFs in Paycom. Keeping calendars updated on all Americorp
activities. Tracking daily activities to have a record of the members' experience and
certifications.
The Field Supervisor works Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm (40 hrs per
week). Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required to support volunteer
events. The salary range is $50000-$60000 depending on skill level and experience plus
benefits that include short and long-term disability supported health dental and eye care
and participation in 401K.
ABOUT THE COMMUNITY LANDSCAPING PROGRAM:
Civic Works Community Landscaping Program transforms vacant and abandoned lots in
Baltimore City into community gardens and green spaces. AmeriCorps members
community residents local artists and volunteer groups work together to create and
maintain thriving community spaces.
ABOUT CIVIC WORKS:
Civic Works strengthens Baltimores communities through education skills development
and community service. Our key program areas include community improvement
workforce development education and green programs. Civic Works team members tutor
and mentor students create community parks and gardens help homeowners conserve
energy grow food for low-income residents rehabilitate abandoned houses involve
families in Baltimore City schools make homes safer for older adults and recruit
volunteers. Civic Works also trains Baltimore residents for employment in the healthcare
and green job industries.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily onsite opening of the CLP shop and inventory of tools/equipment/supplies required
for the days work prior to each shift morning briefing of AmeriCorps members on the
day's activities at the start of each shift
Daily supervision of tool/equipment loading based on each days checklist inspection of
vehicles for safety and coordination of team transportation to worksites
Oversight to ensure the safety and efficiency of team members and volunteers on
worksites and supervision of work performed to ensure that each day's objectives are met
Assist and Supervise work in the field that will include but not limited to lot cleanup bed
preparation and installation of hardscapes fences and other features.
Planning and providing hands-on trainingfor AmeriCorps members according to training
goals
Cleaning of trucks and equipment ensuring that all tools vehicles equipment and
supplies are put away and secured at the end of the day and the shop secured
Data entry to track attendance performance hours accrued on task and progress towards
each AmeriCorps members traininggoals
Day-to-day team disciplineand writing of AmeriCorps member evaluations

APPLICANTS SHOULD DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED SKILLS AND
EXPERIENCE:
Ability to motivate teams encourage and foster the professional growth of individuals from
diverse work backgrounds and build morale within teams of AmeriCorps members
Ability to maintain quality control onsite as well as a focus on achieving each projects goals
and schedule
Strong organizational skills strong oral and written communication skills and attention to
detail in record-keeping solid computer skills
A clean driving record DOT stamp preferred
Demonstrated skills and experience in landscape construction including but not limited to:
Ability to teach landscape construction skills to team members
