Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana Sanitarians license plus one of the following:

Three years of experience as a sanitarian; OR

A masters degree in public health food science dairy science environmental or sanitary science or one of the physical or biological sciences plus two years of experience as a sanitarian.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in the Molluscan Shellfish program require that applicants complete the Louisiana Boating Education program and be certified by the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
Lead and manage the Region 4 Individual Sewage Program providing expert consultation to industry and public officials while supervising staff and ensuring consistent delivery of services.

Conduct inspections and investigations of individual sewage systems including installation oversight and follow-up on non-compliant systems ensuring adherence to State sanitary regulations.

Train and support new and existing environmental health staff on sewage regulations installation standards and use of technical tools enhancing field and office capabilities.

Develop and maintain program documentation such as administrative reports training materials sewage application logs and enforcement records ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Provide technical guidance on plan reviews for subdivisions food establishments and commercial systems under 3000 GPD assisting with complex field evaluations and problem resolution.

Serve as a regional resource assisting all Region 4 parishes with environmental health programs conducting public outreach and representing OPH in court and community settings when needed.
