Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) Technology is the global technology department responsible for the design development delivery and support of the technical solutions behind the products and services used by the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) business. The department is comprised of 10 organizations: Sales Banking & Corporate-Client Technology Investment Products & Markets Technology Client Reporting Core Processing Private and International Wealth Management Technology Technology Integration Office Enterprise Infrastructure & Production Management Capital Markets Application & Data Services Deployment Planning & Release Management and the Chief Operating Office.
Position Description
WM Performance Engineering team is a centralized team responsible for ensuring performance scalability and resiliency of all applications and platforms within Wealth Management Organization at Morgan Stanley. This position is of Lead Performance Engineer specializing in User Experience within the broader team.
We are looking for an individual with strong technical fundamentals and hands on experience devising performance testing strategies execution reporting and certification of applications from end user experience perspective. The individual should understand resiliency aspects and incorporate it within the testing approach.
Responsibilities
* Lead the user experience testing practice within the performance engineering team.
* Establish testing methodology and testing frameworks to conduct a thorough evaluation.
* Identify and remediate issues pertaining to performance and resiliency from end user perspective.
* Conduct risk assessments and devise plan on how to mitigate.
* Design / Configure monitoring solutions to capture application and system metrics during test executions.
* Identify and remediate performance issues coordinate with various partners in application architecture and infra teams as needed.
* Report Test results and historic trends comparing them to production baselines.
* Formulate resiliency testing strategy by understanding the application architecture weak points and validate it as a part of overall application performance.
* Contribute to decision making at the leadership level.
* Lead with a metrics driven mindset capturing key KPIs and using them to drive automation and efficiencies.
* Produce quarterly reports at PAG level articulating the testing conducted and outcomes achieved. Required Skills
* 10 yrs Experience in the Performance Engineering Field.
* Ability to multitask and handle large workloads.
* Must possess a strong knowledge of enterprise application architecture and technologies including web web services and databases on both cloud and distributed platforms as well mainframe and messaging layers. Must also have a strong understanding of the monitoring solutions and KPIs used to determine availability and performance of these technology stacks.
* Ability to understand complex architecture patterns and failure points.
* Possess great analytical and troubleshooting skills to find and remediate Performance Bottlenecks.
* Expertise in Load Generation tools like Performance Center and JMeter. Ability to create script in following Vugen Protocols - HTTP Web/WebServices ODBC JAVA.
* Expertise in AutoIT and Selenium for simulating and capturing user experience.
* Expertise in Monitoring Tools such as App Dynamics Dynatrace Splunk Prometheus Grafana Loki.
* Parse raw Application Logs for Analysis and Troubleshooting.
* Good Understanding of Memory Management / JAVA and tools to identify Memory Leaks such as PerfView JProfiler IBM Workbench Visual VM.
* Tune GC Parameters for optimal Performance.
Desired skills
* Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodology
* Experience using Gremlin or similar tools to conduct Resiliency Testing.
* Ability to read Thread / Memory Dumps.
* Ability to read SQL Plan.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150000 and $210000 per year at the commencement of employment. However base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package which depending on the position may also include commission earnings incentive compensation discretionary bonuses other short and long-term incentive packages and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
