Job Summary
HVAC technician installs maintains and repairs heating ventilation and air conditioning systems. This includes a variety of equipment like furnaces heat pumps air conditioners and ventilation systems ensuring optimal indoor air quality and comfort. They diagnose and fix problems perform preventative maintenance and sometimes handle new installations working in both residential and commercial settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation: Installing new HVAC systems and components according to blueprints and specifications.
Maintenance: Performing regular maintenance tasks like cleaning inspecting and adjusting systems to ensure optimal performance.
Repair: Diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in HVAC systems including electrical and mechanical issues.
Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving complex problems with HVAC systems.
Customer Interaction: Explaining issues providing maintenance tips and discussing potential upgrades with clients.
Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repairs for each job.
Compliance: Ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulations including those related to appliances and OSHA.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills: Proficiency in installing maintaining and repairing HVAC systems and components.
Diagnostic Skills: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to find solutions to complex problems and make sound decisions.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs) and work in confined spaces.
Valid Drivers License: A clean driving record is often required.
Experience: 2-3 years of experience in HVAC is often preferred.
Education: High school diploma or GED is typically required.
