The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking a full-time Director of Institutional Giving to lead the growth and stewardship of OMSIs institutional funding portfolio including private foundations corporations public agencies and other organizational funders with a goal of generating $2.5 million in unrestricted funds and $2 million in restricted funds for strategic initiatives and campaign resources annually. The Director oversees a team of institutional giving officers manages a personal portfolio of high-capacity funders and ensures best-in-class grant and corporate support practices from prospecting to stewardship.
In collaboration with the Institutional Giving Team the Director works across OMSI departments and with external partners to oversee the full lifecycle of grants and corporate support-securing resources for general operations exhibitions capital projects strategic initiatives and campaigns.
In collaboration with the Vice President of Development and development leadership the Director works to set the strategic direction metrics and revenue goals of the Development division; builds the philanthropic pipeline to meet and exceed goals in unrestricted and restricted giving; and creates the systems and processes necessary to achieve sustainable year-over-year growth in both revenue and donor participation.
The Director manages the Institutional Giving Team which currently includes three full-time staff members.
Qualified candidates will have but not limited to:
- Academic degree that demonstrates research presentation relationship-building and communication knowledge skills and abilities;
- 5 years of progressive experience in grant development and post-award administration including grant writing budgeting compliance systems management and funder relations across multiple sectors and degrees of complexity;
- 8 years of cumulative experience-with increasing responsibility-in medium and/or large scale development or fundraising work environments:
- Demonstrated donor relations and/or stewardship experience with an emphasis on increasing donor and partner engagement as well as working on high-stake projects or campaigns;
- Demonstrated experience in setting long-term strategic departmental fundraising plans;
- Demonstrated project management experience with an emphasis on staff supervision multiple project management resourceful problem-solving and adaptability process improvements and budget responsibility;
- Experience working in prospect research and relationship management;
- Experience managing project budgets and utilizing appropriate accounting or tracking systems;
- Track record of establishing or contributing to system and processes improvements.
- Experience effectively communicating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders in a work environment as well as fostering strong and lasting community partnerships and relationships.
- Minimum of 3 years experience with supervising and supporting the professional growth and development of staff
- Developed knowledge of Portlands philanthropic landscape to lead others in donor stewardship strategy and activities at OMSI
- Knowledge of the principles practices and techniques surrounding a prospect management/moves management program in a complex development operation
The Director of Institutional Giving has an annual pay of $99333.84 and is eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes:
- 2 weeks of vacation per year with no waiting period. Hours carry over year to year up to 200 hours;
