WORKING CONDITIONS:

Hourly position up to 3 hours per week year-round. Must be able to work Sunday afternoons from 1:15pm 4:45pm. Up to two weeks of Mandatory New Hire Orientation & Training located at the Administrative Offices in Norman will be required.

Position duration runs through June 30 2026. Benefits are not included.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Sunday Stars is a weekly enrichment program designed to engage and inspire students to explore create connect and learn. Held every Sunday at the Noble Public Library Sunday Stars are 1st through 3rd grade students who are performing at or below grade level in reading and math. Up to 16 students will be participating in the program. The program will have three primary components: small group reading instruction facilitated and directed by the Instructor; one-on-one reading time with Teen Reading Ambassadors; and STEAM-based enrichment activities with an emphasis on career exposure and math skills. The Sunday Stars Teen Reading Ambassadors will provide one-on-one mentorships during reading time and assist with STEAM-based activities. Works under the direction of the Sunday Stars Instructor; performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or experience:

  • Current high school student preferred;
  • Must be 16 years or older;
  • Participation in school or community activities and organizations preferred;
  • Valid drivers license.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong skills in written and spoken communications;
  • Possess an understanding of basic elementary reading math and science concepts;
  • Passion in helping children improve their reading math and science skills;
  • Working knowledge in the operation of computers office machines standard office software products such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications;
  • Lift up to 25 lbs; retrieve and replace items from floor level to at least 5 feet in height.
