Brightshores Health System operates six hospitals in the Grey Bruce region serving a population of over 170000. The Owen Sound hospital is a Level 2 regional referral centre offering a full range of specialty services through the Departments of Anaesthesia Medical Imaging Obstetrics/Gynecology Oncology Hospitalist Medicine Internal Medicine Critical Care Pathology Paediatrics Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT General/Thoracic Surgery Ophthalmology Orthopaedics Urology).
Opportunities for General Internal Medicine specialists currently available with a practice mix including inpatient care and outpatient consultations. On-Call General Internists in Owen Sound cover ED and inpatient consultations acute inpatient admissions and MRP care to CCU and Step-Down beds with 12 hour on-call shift scheduling. Overnight ICU admissions are also available.
The ICU in Owen Sound currently has 8 Level III beds with Intensivist workflows expanded to include 4 Level II beds as part of a shared Critical Care service delivery model.
We are implementing a new Rapid Access Referral Clinic and Post-Discharge Clinic for outpatient consults with a shared operational model for this growing team of General Internists. Rotations through one of Brightshoress Rural Hospitals for Inpatient Outpatient Consultation service week also available (choice of Meaford Markdale Southampton or Wiarton). Further community-based consulting clinics included with referrals from primary care and related teams can also be accommodated for interested candidates.
Department of Medicine subspecialty supports at Brightshores include: Neurology Medical Oncology Cardiology Geriatrics Endocrinology Gastroenterologist and Respirology with expanded service planning underway across our sub-specialties.
Requirements
Applicable FRCPC designation or eligibility with an independent license to practice in Ontario preferred.
Qualified training from other jurisdictions will also be considered for CPSO supervisory licensure.
Experience in acute care settings required.

Compensation Model includes weekday stipends plus 100% fee for service billings and hospital on call stipends for after hours/weekends.
