Electrical Manager

Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Electrical Department Manager for our London/ Kitchener Ontario office to work on various designs of high-performance buildings within multiple sectors including Justice Water Transportation Sustainability Corporate Workplace and Commercial buildings Federal Civilian and DoD and Mission Critical.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

• Performs various management and leadership responsibilities for the Electrical Engineering Department. Has full responsibility for interpreting organizing executing and coordinating technical assignments.
• Requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering. Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of a subject area the definition of scope and the selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
• Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
• Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field.
• Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
• Supervises a group of engineers and/or technicians coordinating activities of the unit.
• Acts as a Senior Engineer leading the design and engineering efforts for various projects.
• Assist in business development activities
• Assist in proposal preparation in conjunction with the senior leadership of the office
• Writing reports for internal and external purposes based on findings
• Works cooperatively with managers and other employees to achieve companys mission
• Ensures discipline plans that are created meet overall project team requirements for project scope and schedule
• Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the electrical and life safety disciplines
• Ensures conformance with standards established design practices applicable codes and technical adequacy of design and construction
• Develop designs within a BIM design environment
• Review junior team members work for quality and recognition of training requirements
• Lead junior engineers in engineering design development and professional growth

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Professional Engineer (PEng) registration

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10 years of electrical engineering experience within a consulting or design-build firm.
• Experience managing an Electrical Engineering Department is strongly preferred.
• Presentation experience with clients.
• Knowledgeable in power systems design including MV and LV systems.
• Experience with Revit and AutoCAD based design projects.
• Competent in all conventional aspects of electrical engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard electrical engineering techniques procedures and criteria.
• Experience in the following markets: DoD Healthcare and Labs Corporate Commercial / Mixed Use.
• Experience with sustainable design.
• Documented experience with advanced design and aesthetically challenging design with high profile architecture firms.
• Analyze equipment energy use for optimizing systems selection.
