What Were Looking For

Baylor University is seeking a Program Manager to lead and coordinate the implementation of the Raising Texas Voices project. The purpose of this two-year research project is to study how different generations of Texans with developmental disabilities and their families (a) view disability and their experiences (b) engage in advocacy and (c) prefer to learn how to advocate effectively. Our findings will inform statewide advocacy strategies training formats and outreach efforts in order to improve overall engagement across the diverse disability community in Texas. The Program Manager will play a prominent role in implementing our workplan; leading our recruitment and data collection activities; working with disability organizations across the state; coordinating the work of undergraduate and graduate students; and ensuring all project timelines are met. The project is funded by the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities (TCDD) and the position is housed within the Baylor Center for Developmental Disabilities (BCDD). This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a community-engaged mission-driven research initiative as well as work closely with an interdisciplinary team of researchers and diverse stakeholders.

A bachelors degree and three years of relevant work experience are required. A masters degree and five years of relevant work experience are preferred. This position requires occasional travel throughout Texas for recruitment and data collection activities. Prior experience related to project coordination and/or research studies required. Prior personal work or lived experience related to disability required.

  • Confidence and effectiveness in establishing relationships with a diversity of new people and organizations
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative while also discerning when guidance is needed
  • Capacity to prioritize and execute multiple tasks
  • Ability to manage the work of others and hold team members accountable to deadlines
  • Ability to document project activities in a reliable and detail-oriented way
  • Experience building rapport and maintaining engagement with community organizations
  • Knowledge about disability organizations services and advocacy in Texas
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) communication skills are preferred but not required

Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain ongoing communication with the principal investigators research team members and external partners
  • Lead outreach and cold-calling efforts to build collaborations with disability organizations programs and networks across Texas to ensure representation from varied communities
  • Organize and facilitate stakeholder input opportunities ensuring accessible and inclusive engagement strategies
  • Coordinate engagement with our Project Advisory Committee
  • Oversee the execution of data collection strategies including surveys interviews and community events
  • Prioritize the engagement of unserved and underserved members of the disability community
  • Supervise and support a small team of undergraduate and graduate students
  • Develop and manage comprehensive project documentation ensuring consistency and detail-oriented reporting
  • Manage the production of clear and compelling reports of our major findings and actionable recommendations
  • Support our dissemination efforts ensuring findings are presented in accessible practical and widely understandable formats
  • Represent the project well to the Baylor community and beyond
  • Lead regular team meetings
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylors mission
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
