This role is a Hybrid in-office role in either Bellevue WA or Overland Park KS.

This attorney working in the Legal Affairs Department will represent T-Mobile and provide counsel to business units and Human Resources on employment-law matters. The role focuses on incentive compensation plans other wage/hour issues NLRA issues and general employment-law support for the Retail and T-Mobile for Business segments.

What youll do in your role.

  • Provide practical day-to-day employment law and HR counseling to HR clients
  • Provide incentive compensation advice and support to HR including regarding plan documentation and compensation communications
  • Advise regarding issues under the NLRA including Section 7 rights and third-party activity
  • Proactively enhance wage/hour compliance (including conducting wage/hour audits) in areas like exempt status regular rate calculations timekeeping attestations and suitable seating
  • Manage employment arbitration and litigation proceedings with outside counsel support with a focus on creative strategies cost reduction and efficient resolutions
  • Oversee responses to demand letters and administrative charges (including California DLSE complaints)
  • Develop and review written HR policies guidelines processes templates and training materials
  • Develop and deliver legal training for HR and other internal clients
  • Tackle emerging employment law issues

The experience youll bring.

  • 7 years of experience as an employment attorney with relevant in-house and/or top law firm experience
  • 7 years of experience handling employment arbitrations and litigation involving wage/hour discrimination retaliation harassment and other employment claims
  • Minimum 5 years prefer 7 years of identifying auditing and mitigating wage/hour risks
  • Prefer experience in the following areas:
    • California employment law
  • Top-tier writing skills with a focus on efficiently revising others work product and concise email construction
  • Top-tier oral communication skills with a focus on clearly and simply conveying complex employment law concepts risks and options to clients
  • Strong judgement that allows you to properly weigh whats best for our customers and our business whats best for our employees and potential legal risks
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong collaboration skills with team members HR business leaders and other clients
  • Ability to operate independently and effectively despite ambiguity and rapid change
  • Creativity and curiosity
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the US

At least 18 years of age

Base Pay Range: $144100 - $260000

Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidates actual pay will be based on various factors such as work location qualifications and experience so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile employees in regular non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employees eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
