Job Description

JOB TITLE: Court Services Representative
DEPARTMENT: Financial Services
DIVISION: Municipal Court Services
SALARY: $32153/yr $15.45817/hr
CLOSING DATE: Until filled

Job Summary/Scope
Provides general clerical support for Municipal Court operations. No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answers phones and interacts with public daily. Exhibits and maintains appropriate workplace attitude and provide excellent customer service.
  • Responds to requests from customers and attorneys at Clerk window or over Court telephones or forwards callers to appropriate staff.
  • Performs check-in of defendants at Clerk window.
  • Processes all payments made in person and or by mail. Processes paperwork of defendant cash bond forfeitures at window.
  • Processes Entry of Appearance for no-contest dates for attorneys.
  • Researches outstanding pay orders failure to appears warrants or new arraignments for persons on probation and parole and provides information as authorized by the Court.
  • Enters dockets and summonses assembles docket backup information and files dockets.
  • Assists Court Clerk stamp and file closed SIS and SES convicted cases after approval from City Prosecutor and Judge.
  • Assists Police Department in processing and recalling warrants.
  • Logs uniform complaint summons and ordinance violations filed by City Prosecutor.
  • Prepares distributes and files miscellaneous forms and documents.
  • Data entry of previous citations from Incode to Missouri software by hand or by limited case import (when functioning)
  • Performs general filing functions as necessary.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Court staff shall conduct themselves pursuant to the Judicial Code of Conduct. Examples of professional conduct include but are not limited to being communicative informative fair honest and respectful.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Well-developed customer service skills which include but are not limited to being courteous helpful respectful communicative informative honest tactful and considerate. Must exhibit and maintain appropriate workplace attitude and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.
  • Reads and processes paperwork with specific attention to detail.
  • Proficient skills in typing filing computers 10-key and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and general municipal court procedures.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures including basic accounting skills for receiving recording and accounting for funds and periodic payments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the general public.
  • Ability to handle money and maintain accurate records.
  • Prior experience in a related field desirable.

Material and Equipment Directly Used
Daily use of equipment such as computer printer 10-key cash register and other standard office equipment. There may be times when use of a personal vehicle may be required.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements
Work performed in an office environment which involves handling of high volume of transactions. Work is performed in an intense often stressful setting. Work involves bending stooping and reaching. Occasional lifting of objects weighing twenty to twenty-five pounds. Work involves oral communication through the use of telephone or in person. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.

Education
High School diploma or equivalent required. Prior Court or legal experience preferred.


Passing of a drug screening required prior to appointment.
