About the Position:
The College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) is committed to educating engineers and computer scientists who will graduate with state-of-the art knowledge in their chosen field and are ready to embark on careers in industry and government or proceed to acquire advanced degrees in their own or related fields. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Graduate Admissions Coordinator and International Advisor (Student Services Professional II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity openness flexibility integrity.
The Graduate Admissions Coordinator and International Advisor will oversee the graduate admissions process by handling application data coordinating with university offices and providing timely updates to department chairs and program coordinators. Responsibilities include engaging with prospective students through information sessions application tracking and follow-up communications. Additionally the position involves planning and executing graduate recruitment initiatives such as marketing campaigns graduate fairs and webinars. Another key aspect of the role is supporting current graduate student success by leading orientations conducting academic probation workshops and connecting students with campus resources. Administrative duties include collaborating with various offices on internship opportunities coordinating and assisting students with the internship application process monitoring the academic performance of international students and preparing reports. The position also involves supervising student assistants and actively participating in university and college committees. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences public administration business administration or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or a related field. A Masters degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational management research and interview techniques. Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews and advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters. Ability to reason logically and use initiative in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements. Ability to plan develop coordinate supervise and organize programs and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse student population faculty staff and the public. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures activities and of the overall organization.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of CSU or comparable university admission requirements and procedures. Knowledge of Content Management System (CMS) is desirable.
License/Certifications
A valid California drivers license and/or reliable means of transportation.
