Who we are looking for:
Slate is looking for a Packaging Engineer to design develop and optimize packaging solutions for automotive components and materials. The goal is to create cost-effective sustainable and efficient packaging systems that improve supply chain performance and reduce waste.
What you get to do:
- Design packaging solutions for automotive components and finished goods ensuring they meet logistics storage safety and durability standards.
- Work with manufacturing quality and design teams to identify parts suitable for returnable packaging.
- Manage packaging budgets and cost-saving initiatives.
- Develop sustainable packaging solutions using CAD tools like SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Collaborate with suppliers to create durable cost-effective expendable packaging.
- Conduct business case studies comparing returnable vs. expendable packaging.
- Define packaging requirements for new product launches and analyze logistics data to improve supply chain flow.
- Optimize packaging internal space utilization and material handling efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement projects focused on lean packaging and ergonomics.
- Collaborate with various factory teams to design develop and implement containers and carts for internal factory kitting and sequencing
- Research new materials and technologies to improve packaging durability reduce weight and lower costs.
- Ensure all packaging solutions meet required specifications and standards before implementation.
- Conduct packaging performance testing as needed.
What you bring to the team:
- Bachelors degree in Packaging Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
- 5 years of packaging experience in automotive aerospace or similar industries.
- Experience in optimizing returnable and expendable packaging with suppliers.
- Proficient in CAD tools for packaging design and optimization.
- Knowledge of packaging design materials and logistics optimization.
- Familiarity with ISO safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of sustainable packaging practices.
