You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailReporting to the Vice-President Medical Affairs the Forensic Program Medical Director is part of a team responsible for the successful leadership operation and management of the Forensic Program and works in collaboration with the Administrative Director according to the strategic directions set by the Board of Directors. The Medical Director functions as a medical leader for the Program and has the authority to oversee all aspects of medical care and deal with any issues as they arise. In collaboration with the Administrative Director and as required or requested he or she provides leadership in a broad range of program areas including: quality assurance utilization management and workplace safety. The role also includes recruitment clinical oversight physician coverage mentoring and evaluation of medical staff and contributing to the clinical oversight and evaluation of other health professionals. The Medical Director will offer content expertise and will lead or support quality improvement initiatives including the implementation of Quality Standards.

The successful candidate will possess an FRCPC with subspecialty qualification in Forensic Psychiatry or equivalent and be eligible for Ontario licensure. The preferred candidate will deliver evidence-supported practice innovation and integrated service delivery excellence within an inter-professional team environment. Also bring a progressive career in senior healthcare leadership within complex integrated care environments. Demonstrated knowledge of mental health theory and practice regulatory frameworks and evidence-based care models is essential. The successful candidate will function as a designate of the Person-in-Charge. The Ontario Shores Forensic Program is made up of 138 assessment general and secure beds. Ontario Shores also supports approximately 130 forensic outpatients.
