Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Service Coordinator Manager is responsible for working within communities working directly with Service Coordinators to help them identify and access the existing services the claimants of the First Nations Child & Family Services Jordans Principle and Trout Class Action need. The Service Coordinator Manager is critical to ensure Service Coordinators understand the publicly funded services that are available to claimants and respond to inquiries with necessary steps and procedures.

KEY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee and manage the Service Coordinators for your region this includes making sure they have completed their onboarding and training and that they are following the processes and procedures set-up for their program.
  • Identify and update an inventory of existing services within communities.
  • Ensure Service Coordinators are up to date on the existing services offered within their respective communities.
  • Coordinate with key partners including regional offices Province-Territory organizations Chiefs in Council local community organization health networks ISC Regional Offices to keep the service inventory up to update.
  • Communicate and share the service inventory and knowledge across the Claims Helper Program for the local community.
  • Record and report on gaps identified for services within communities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with First Nations leaders community members and others to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Set-up and oversee necessary administrative processes relevant to the Service Coordinators (i.e. expense reports time tracking activity reporting).
  • Attend onboarding and training activities as needed for the role.
  • Synthesize and share learning insights from Service Coordinators with the overall Claim Helper Program.
  • Ensure Service Coordinators work closely together and that feedback and learnings are shared with all relevant teams.
Financial Reporting
  • Comply with current Finance Policies.
  • Work with finance in developing the budget manage spending in accordance with the budget review monthly and quarterly financial statements with finance.
  • Ensure department staff expense claims are filed on a timely basis.
Staff Team Meetings & Administrative Requirements
  • Coordinate Staff meeting and Training
  • Report and keep Service Coordinator team up to date on the Claims Settlement
  • Compile disseminate data and records of all clients
  • Provide monthly and quarterly program activity report identifying issues concerns and/or recommendations in relation to claimants their families and communities
  • Have regular check-ins with Supervisor
  • Create a wholistic wellness plan and visit it regularly with your Supervisor
  • Must be able to travel regularly
  • Programming needs will be reassessed often and changes made as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 5 years of relevant experience working with and supporting First Nations communities access social services health services and other services as required.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills and people management skills.
  • Political knowledge of your region and an understanding of Canadas history and relationship with First Nations.
  • Experience working with leaders and partners in First Nations environments.
  • Excellent time-management organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and processes with excellent problem-solving skills
  • An ability to build trust and maintain confidential information.
  • Experience developing and implementing strategies including outreach and communication plans.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to navigate difficult conversations and manage trauma-informed discussions.
  • High degree of integrity professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Be Double Vaccinated
  • Must undergo and pass a VULNERABLE Criminal Record Check
  • Demonstrate a wellness lifestyle and self-care plan
  • Advanced interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deal with individuals in a manner that shows cultural sensitivity tact and professionalism and demonstrates personal and professional boundaries.
  • Must have the ability to meet deadlines; manage time effectively to multitask many directives projects and keep a good recording system.
  • A Valid BC Drivers License
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to establish rapport with people of all educational and occupational backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain a healthy working relationship with staff community representatives/members and representatives of other organizations. Including collaboration with other IRSSS programs and staff as required.
  • Maintain the confidentiality guidelines of all records materials and communications concerning clients staff and IRSSS.
Assets:
  • Knowledge of Effective Community Cultural Etiquette and Protocols
  • Knowledge of cultural healing methods/practices in responding to trauma (taken or willing to take training. i.e. IFOT (Indigenous Focusing Orienting Therapy)
  • Two (2) or more years of Trauma Informed training and/or Counselling experience with Indigenous clients
  • Extensive working knowledge of the history and impacts of residential schooling and effective methods for working with survivors.
Beneficial assets of the following qualities:
  • Self-identify as First Nations in Canada.
  • Experience working on First Nations class action lawsuits.
  • Knowledge of French and Indigenous language(s).

WHAT TO EXPECT

Term: Full-time Term Position - ending March 31 2026
Office Locations: Vancouver Office
Salary:$75000.00- $80000.00 to start and dependent on experience.
Benefits: Annual Leave Sick Leave Wellness Days; after 90 days - Employer paid benefits plan and GIC/RSP matched savings.
Status: Hybrid position combination of office and work travel
