Job Description

The Maintenance Repairman will work under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Repairman will work on the maintenance of facilities grounds and structures.

The position will have a minimum 3 month term with the possibility of an extension. A minimum of 30 days notice will be given if the position is discontinued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair work in school facilities as needed.
  • Operate and maintain vehicles tools and equipment used for facility and grounds maintenance.
  • Carry out seasonal groundskeeping tasks such as lawn care snow removal tree trimming and landscaping.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor building system issues (e.g. doors windows locks lighting toilets sinks ceiling tiles).
  • Respond to maintenance service requests and complete assigned repairs in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support certified tradespeople across various disciplines as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of division-owned vehicles tools and equipment.
  • Perform general labour and support duties including site clean-up transporting and delivering supplies and organizing inventory.
  • Perform other related duties and repairs as required.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of general building maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Proficiency with basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders schematics or verbal instructions.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail time management and organizational skills.
  • Physically capable of performing manual labour including lifting climbing and working in a variety of environments.

This is a union position under the CUPE Local 4839 Peace River School Support Staff.
