Grant Thornton is seeking an Advisory Capacity & Resource Management (C&RM) Leader to join the team. Approved office locations can be found below.


As the Advisory Capacity & Resource Management (C&RM) leader you will partner with Service Line and firm leadership to define and oversee the global resource management function with a clear point of view on a 13-year workforce strategy that is in alignment with firm strategy. You will collaborate on yearly budget planning for headcount gross charge hours utilization and leverage.

You will lead your team to collaborate with Regional / Industry / Solution Family leaders resource managers (onshore and offshore) and other internal and external client service delivery teams to ensure engagements are staffed to optimize utilization and support quality execution while delivering a remarkable experience for our people.

You will be empowered by expanding and leading our strategic approach to resource management and focus on developing deep trusted relationships with key stakeholders to influence outcomes that support business objectives.

Your day-to-day may include:

  • Partnering annually with service line leadership to create a Workforce Strategy and manage against the overall Firm strategy
  • Working with firm leadership to establish annual performance targets
  • Guiding your team to resolve staffing conflicts and escalations while understanding client prioritization and risk
  • Strengthening global C&RM relationships within and across service lines guiding the team toward streamlined global processes
  • Guiding the team to identify and implement solutions that will optimize resource allocation utilization and improve time to fill for open roles
  • Maintaining a steady pulse on staff shortages and surpluses and driving recommendations and solutions as needed
  • Partnering with other Internal Client Service (ICS) functions both onshore and offshore such as Operations People & Culture (P&C) Finance and Talent Acquisition by collaborating to drive strategies in alignment with firm goals
  • Driving Service Line and/or Firm-wide strategic initiatives and projects in support of the Capacity & Resource Management strategy
  • Guiding Capacity Leads to identify capacity trends issues shortages surpluses and hours slippage
  • Providing regular reporting against budget for Service Line Leadership
  • Supervising guiding and coaching the Capacity Leads and Resource Manager team to ensure they are successfully performing in their role and to provide them with opportunities for professional development
  • Setting the hiring strategy and guiding the Capacity Leads to partner with the Resource Manager team service line leadership and Talent Acquisition to execute on the strategy
  • Leading calls with the Resource Manager team to share strategy to implement process improvements and to roll out capacity management strategies to maximize utilization and drive operational excellence
  • Overseeing the monthly forecasting process by partnering with leadership the Capacity Leads and finance to submit the forecast and provide analysis and key recommendations to service line leadership for approval
  • Working with your team in the office or remotely. We empower teams to listen first to the expectations of clients and teammates; then you and your team can determine when and where to work

Youhave the following technical skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 10 years of experience in Advisory and experience in a leadership role within Capacity Management at a professional services firm is strongly preferred
  • A strong understanding of a professional services firm and general finance operations
  • Excellent organization skills deadline-oriented and flexible to meet changing needs of the role
  • Executive presence and strong leadership and presentational skills: ability to clearly communicate complex messages verbal and written to various audiences
  • Ability tomanage upward and drive results
  • Abilityto set and manage expectations
  • Abilityto consistently contribute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Metrics-focused with the ability to use analytics to solve problems and develop solutions.
  • Ability to create a clear and concise point of view on capacity needs to drive results.
  • Ability to build rapport and gain trust with all levels of personnel at Grant Thornton.
  • Ability to serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.
  • Aptitude to learn and leverage new technology.
  • Proven ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and operate with professional discretion.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and experience in Microsoft Office suite especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI preferred.
  • Prior experience in project management/change management/process transformation preferred.
  • Availability to travel as needed; up to 10%.

The base salary range for this position in the firms Denver CO officeonly is between $172000 and $258000 per year.

The base salary range for this position in the firms New York NY; Melville NY; Bellevue WA; Los Angeles CA; and San Diego CA offices is between $185800 and $278600 per year.

The base salary range for this position in the firms San Francisco CA and San Jose CA offices is $197800 and $296700 per year.
