SUMMARY:
The Assistant Golf Coach is responsible for assisting with the management coaching and oversight of all phases of the golf program necessary to provide a positive collegiate experience for student-athletes. The assistant coach will report to the head coach directly and oversee the following duties: recruitment of players preparation for events budget and finance management and academic oversight and progress of student-athletes. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Guide student-athletes within the golf program at East Texas A&M to further their current golf skills and abilities.
- Ensures adherence to all rules and regulations of East Texas A&M the Southland Conference and the NCAA.
- Coordinates student-athlete needs as assigned.
- Assists with recruiting instructing and retaining highly skilled student-athletes for both golf teams.
- Recruits and serves as a point of contact with high school and community college transfer athletes upon taking and passing the NCAA Recruiting Test.
- Assists with player development weight training study table and analyzing and processing of golf statistics.
- Actively participates in golf practice/weight training sessions as well as team meetings and functions.
- Coordinates all activities through the Head Golf Coach.
- Assist with the marketing and promotion of both golf teams including continuous updates on social media outlets.
- Assists with execution of fundraising and community service events.
- Assists with the coordination and execution of team travel.
- Contributes qualities and leadership skills to build a championship culture for both programs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: Bachelors degree.
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Two years of experience as an intercollegiate golfer. One or two years of college golf recruiting/coaching/professional playing experience. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of golf terminology and maintains a high skill level of golf execution. Must be self-motivated and team-oriented. Excellent interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage and update social media platforms regularly.
- Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to recruit quality student-athletes. Ability to work with a wide variety of people. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid drivers license with clean driving record.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk during practice and tournaments in cold and hot conditions.
- Other Requirements: Successful completion of a criminal background check.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Masters degree. Four or more years of collegiate golf playing/coaching experience/GA. Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA Division I rules. Familiar with the daily operations and running a golf program.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
May supervise student workers and/or graduate assistants.
