Job Description

OBJECTIVE:
The Wellness Manager is responsible for leading designing and implementing comprehensive wellness initiatives that promote healthy living mental health nutrition and family engagement aligned with Stars mission vision and outcomes. This role ensures strategic execution of key wellness initiatives with measurable outcomes across physical emotional spiritual and environmental domains.


SCOPE:
This position plays a vital leadership role on the Stars wellness team. The Wellness Manager works across departments with internal and external partners and directly with families to build a culture of community well-being. The Wellness Manager also oversees Stars Villa 500 Wellness Center and provides supervision to the Wellness Coordinator and other wellness team members.


CLASSIFICATION:
This position is classified as non-exempt


COMPENSATION:
$25$28 per hour (3235 hours per week)
Some evening and weekend events required


RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports to: Associate Director of Program Planning & Evaluation
  • Supervises: Wellness Coordinator Wellness Assistant AmeriCorps VISTA(s) (as applicable)
  • Collaborates with: Head Clinical Supervisor Stars program leads community wellness partners local universities faith-based organizations

QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Background in mental health public health counseling or wellness (required); dual experience preferred
  • Experience in trauma-informed care and working with families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Proven ability to supervise and lead teams effectively
  • Strong project management coordination and communication skills
  • Familiarity with ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) food justice and family systems
  • Passion for youth and family development and alignment with Stars mission and values
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace; project management tools a plus
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
Requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Wellness Program Implementation

  • Design and lead wellness programs that ensure:
    • 100% of participating families consume meals made up of 60% fruits/vegetables 20% grains and no more than 20% animal protein
    • 100% of families understand healthy meal preparation and food sourcing
  • Oversee the Community wellness plans for active lifestyle and wellbeing and quarterly experiences tied to the Christian liturgical calendar
  • Coordinate and oversee weekly food distribution and community nutrition education
  • Supervise and support life coaching/case management services for at least 50% of participating families
  • Provide ongoing support and professional development to the Wellness Coordinator
  • Develop programs for fire impacted families.
  • Develop programs to help with wellbeing through toolkits small groups wellness mentoring programs.

Mental Health & Villa 500 Wellness Center

  • Schedule and manage 12 hours of weekly therapy services at the Villa 500 Wellness Center
  • Collaborate closely with Stars Head Clinical Supervisor to ensure trauma-informed high-quality care
  • Support integration of mental health into wellness programming through group and individual sessions

Trauma-Informed Care & ACEs Prevention

  • Deliver trauma-informed training for Stars staff and families including:
    • Social determinants of health
    • Systems of oppression
    • Expanded ACEs framework
  • Develop prevention programs that promote family resilience and holistic wellbeing

Community Engagement & Family Activities

  • Engage at least 10 families quarterly through Stars wellness offerings
  • Coordinate family-oriented wellness activities such as:
    • Fitness and movement classes
    • Financial literacy workshops
    • Community gardening and composting sessions
    • Food safety and healthy cooking workshops

Strategic Partnerships and Collaborative Research

  • Build and maintain partnerships with:
    • Cultural brokers and community leaders
    • Colleges and universities for student trainees and research partnerships
    • Churches and faith-based organizations
    • Community gardens and food justice coalitions
  • Identify and support opportunities for collaborative wellness research and impact evaluation

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Physical ability to work around children including sitting standing kneeling and climbing stairs for extended periods of time.
  2. Work at a computer requiring the ability to send and receive information with necessary optical auditory and manual dexterity.
  3. Use a keyboard and mouse to enter retrieve or transfer words or data information and/or move from screen to screen on the computer to view information.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; comprehend and speak English.
  5. Display the reading skills necessary to proofread written material.
