Experience as a Social Worker working with school-aged students and familiesREPORTS TO: Director of Pupil Personnel/Building AdministratorJOB GOAL: To support the academic achievement social/behavioral skills and emotionalwell-being of Barrington QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrate expertise in the areas of mental health andsocial/emotional/behavioral development through direct service to students coachingconsulting and RESPONSIBILITIES OF SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER:1. Adheres to federal and state special education regulations.2. Communicates high and clear expectations for students.3. Conducts social assessments to assist special education teams in decision-makingshares findings with key stakeholders and interprets assessment data in order tounderstand the family biological and developmental issues that impact studentperformance.4. Develops with colleagues appropriate academic behavioral and social/emotional goalsfor students.5. Conducts risk screenings and supports district with crisis intervention.6. Provides consultation and training to teachers and administrators regarding the mentalhealth and social/emotional/behavioral well-being of their students.7. Communicates regularly with students and parents regarding the students academicbehavioral/social/emotional status; communicates immediately when there are urgentconcerns.8. Collaborates with community providers and agencies to coordinate supports forstudents and families.9. Makes referrals to existing community resources and provides follow-up services.10. Functions as a liaison with school community family and student when indicated to linkschool and community services.11. Serves as a member of Evaluation 504 and IEP Teams.12. Actively participates and serves on general education problem-solving teams.13. Exhibits attributes of reliable attendance promptness dependability and professionalethics; Uses effective communication skills with students colleagues families andrelated agencies (spoken written and nonverbal); Completes all requested formsreports and data collections in an accurate and timely manner; Performs the functionsof the position in accordance with the: National Association Social Workers (NASW)Standards; RI Professional Code of Conduct; and all laws regulations school districtpolicies directives the mission of the district school-based plans and administrativepriorities / requests.20.
