This position is responsible for conducting in-depth research using mixed-method approaches to examine food habits nutrition behaviors and influences across Southern U.S. communities. The specialist will collaborate with faculty and research teams to design conduct and analyze data ensuring research outcomes inform educational interventions and academic publications. Additionally the role includes mentorship of students project management and grant preparation.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
Responsibilities:
Lead the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data applying advanced research methods. Assess food habits and influences across various communities.
Utilize software tools such as SPSS NVivo or R to analyze data effectively. Interpret data findings to support nutrition education interventions.
Assist in preparing scholarly publications research reports and presentations for both academic and public audiences. Develop content for community outreach based on research findings. Ensure clear communication of complex research insights.
Collaborate with faculty staff and research teams to design conduct and evaluate research methodologies. Support the development of effective research tools such as surveys focus groups and interview protocols.
Provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students. Support students in data collection analysis and professional development.
Oversee and manage project timelines ensuring milestones and deliverables are met. Lead the preparation and submission of grant proposals and progress reports as required by funding agencies. Ensure adherence to ethical research practices and maintain data confidentiality and integrity.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Ph.D. in Nutrition.
No prior experience required;
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
