Job Description

Liaison Engineering Manager KC-46 EDC

Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) is seeking a Liaison Engineering Manager to lead the Everett Delivery Center (EDC) team of Liaison Engineers (MRB Product Review Engineers) Manufacturing Planners and Airplane Captains for the KC-46 Program. This position will also lead the KC-46 Flight Performance Effort from the BDS perspective in partnership with the BCA Flight Performance team in Everett WA.

This position requires a manager who is capable of working in a fast paced and highly collaborative environment with the ability to make technical decisions and elevate issues and status quickly as required to higher level leadership. This manager will be required to obtain KC-46 MRB authority if they do not already have it.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages engages empowers develops and motivates employees.
  • Promotes and maintains a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Develops relationships with operations flight crew quality customers and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides higher Material Review Board (MRB) oversight.
  • Manages Notice of Escapements (NoE) and other customer concerns.
  • Interfaces directly with the USAF customer and host customer meetings.
  • Manages budget quality schedule and safety activities as well as develops and executes improvements processes and projects in alignment with program priorities.
  • Monitors group performance against program and functional commitments and develops technical employees within the group.
  • Develops maintains and reports regularly on team and flight performance metrics and projects.
  • Represents KC-46 PE in EDC leadership meetings for both BCA and BDS integration and support.
  • Partners closely with peer managers for cross team support critical issues and program goals.

We are seeking candidates who are able to work 100% onsite. The candidate is also expected to work a weekend (manager rotation) and daily overtime as required. This position involves daily exposure to factory and flight line environments which includes stairs trip hazards high noise areas and entering airplanes during their many stages of build and test.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science.
  • 5 years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Current or prior Material Review Board experience.
  • 5 years of experience working in production / flight-line environment.
  • Experience in leading or managing teams.
  • Ability to adapt to changing scope responsibilities and job requirements.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communications skills verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management customers and partners.
  • Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion transparency and trust.
  • Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes.
  • Previous experience in leading mentoring and engaging individuals and teams.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
