Overview
Zonos is seeking a Senior or Staff Backend Engineer to help design and build scalable resilient systems that power global e-commerce. This is a senior-level role for someone who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and enjoys collaborating across product and engineering teams.
Youll work on APIs backend services and system architecture to support our growing suite of international trade and compliance products. Our ideal candidate brings a combination of deep technical expertise strong ownership and a passion for delivering impactful software.
What Youll Do
- Design and implement robust maintainable backend systems and APIs
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to define solutions and ship impactful features
- Take an API-first approach to development building simple and scalable interfaces
- Own technical design and architecture decisions in a service-oriented environment
- Debug troubleshoot and resolve production issues across the stack
- Champion performance reliability and observability in the systems you build
- Participate in code reviews and help raise the bar for technical excellence
- Help shape best practices mentor teammates and contribute to technical strategy

You Might Be a Great Fit If You...

- Have 6 years of professional experience building scalable backend systems
- Are fluent in Java and its ecosystem (other JVM languages welcome)
- Have deep experience with RESTful APIs; familiarity with GraphQL is a plus
- Bring an architectural mindset and understand the trade-offs between simplicity performance and extensibility
- Enjoy collaborating with product teams to turn business requirements into technical solutions
- Are curious and constantly seeking to learn and improve
- Are reliable collaborative and take ownership of your work
- Have a background in e-commerce or are excited to become an expert in the space
- Hold a CS degree or equivalent real-world experience
What we offer:
- $130000 to $200000 - Actual salaries will vary based on various factors such as education experience training scope etc. The salary noted is just one component of our total compensation package.
