Job Description

POSITION: Education Faculty

EMPLOYMENT SPECIFICS: Full-Time Faculty (187 days) Appointment. 1.11 FTE

PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:

The Education Faculty develops implements and manages the plan for offering education courses at Morgan Community College (MCC). The position will develop implement and evaluate curriculum appropriate to MCCs BAS degree(s) in Education and transfer preparedness and matriculation into a baccalaureate level teacher preparation program that meet the needs of primary and secondary education partners across the region the college serves. This position shall provide vision and leadership to MCC for immediate and future offerings of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Technical Education and the pending BAS in Elementary Education.

The Education Faculty will teach EDU or ECE courses (relevant to qualifications) with a three-credit release time in fall and spring semesters (6 credit annual release) for program development and administrative duties. A variety of instructional delivery modalities (synchronous online remote) will be utilized via WebEx/Zoom and a Learning Management System. The faculty member will also work with part-time instructors to provide mentoring and help with the implementation of assessment strategies. The faculty member may be asked to teach in the summer semester for additional remuneration. Teaching assignments may be scheduled at various times including evening and weekend offerings.

The Education Faculty shall embrace the colleges guiding principles of integrity respect open and honest communication and collaboration. The individual will be dynamic creative committed to teaching excellence and have a passion for continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • 60% of the faculty members time is spent teaching or in activities related to teaching such as grading preparation development of term schedule curriculum review/ revision development of course outlines/syllabi textbooks election/ adoption working with student organizations and maintaining office hours etc.
  • 5% of the faculty time is spent developing implementing and evaluating curriculum and programs for MCCs BAS degree(s) as well as the transfer preparedness and matriculation into a baccalaureate level teacher preparation program that meets the needs of education partners across the region.
  • 1% of faculty members time is spent keeping apprised of the development and revision of Degrees with Designation (DwDs) related to the disciplines of Education and Early Childhood Education ensuring that MCC offerings align with these articulation plans. provide outreach to four-year partners for potential articulation agreements as appropriate evaluating opportunities for their ability to meet regional needs.
  • 15% of the faculty members time is spent recruiting and advising students in the BAS degree(s) and transfer degrees which entails working closely with the marking department and engaging in community outreach activities throughout the region.
  • 5% of faculty members time is spent on developing processes for and ensuring compliance of the education programs with the Colorado Department of Education requirements Colorado Department of Higher Education standards and Colorado Community College System policies. This includes ensuring completion of background checks.
  • 5% of the faculty members time is spent actively participating in college level and statewide meetings as appropriate expressing a leadership role in developing implementing and managing the education discipline with the intent for students to complete a BAS or baccalaureate degree. Actively participate on the CCCS team working to develop and implement BAS curriculum.
  • 5% of the faculty members time is spent providing leadership and mentoring to part-time instructors across the service area providing guidance on effective assessment strategies and instructional delivery. Conduct classroom observations and provide input to the Dean of General Education on their evaluation.
  • 2% of the faculty members time is spent on other duties as assigned by the Dean of General Education and/or the Vice President of Instruction.
  • 1% -- Based on the functions this position is identified as a Campus Security Authority. As a Campus Security Authority the incumbent in this position is required to report allegations of Clery Act crimes that they become aware of to the Vice President of Student Services at Morgan Community College. Attends training pertaining to these responsibilities as required.
  • 1% All MCC employees are responsible for ensuring their work and educational environments are free from illegal discrimination sexual harassment and related retaliation. When alleged or suspected discrimination sexual harassment or retaliation is experienced or observed by or made known to an MCC employee the employee is responsible for reporting that information to one of the following individuals: the Title IX Coordinator and the Deputy Title IX Coordinator. Attends training pertaining to these responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree in education or early childhood education or related field with 18 graduate credits in education from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience (or equivalent part-time teaching experience) in formal classroom environments.
  • Must have 2000 hours of work-related experience and be willing to maintain CTE credentials in Early Childhood Education (relevant to qualifications)
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills including the ability to make public presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technological skills and experience using MS Office suite.
  • Must be willing and able to travel as required by position needs.
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends as necessitated by course schedules.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctorate degree in education or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Prior community college experience preferred.
  • Experience with distance education.
  • Full-time teaching experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated success in working with students from diverse backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITY AND DECISION MAKING:

This position is responsible for the management of the plan for education courses at Morgan Community College. The Education Faculty member will be responsible for the development of processes to ensure the proper compliance of the education programs including completion.

Anticipated Start Date: September 2025

Salary and Benefits:

$50000 - $62500 based on education skills and experience. Benefits include health life dental insurance vision LTD & benefit package in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.
