Who You Are:

As a Health & Safety Specialist you will be responsible for ensuring the overall safety of warehouse personnel equipment and the environment according to H&S guidelines. You will play a crucial role in identifying potential hazards developing and implementing safety protocols and procedures conducting safety training and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.

The Health & Safety Specialist will ensure audit findings are escalated and recommended actions are communicated to relevant stakeholders. In close collaboration with the operations team you will lead cooperative efforts to ensure the site achieves all safety metrics. Additionally you will engage with operations leaders to ensure that safety and operations strategies are effectively integrated and implemented. By ensuring compliance with safety measures the Health & Safety Specialist plays a critical role in upholding the companys standards and ensuring the well-being of all employees.

What Youll Do:

• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with relevant safety standards.
• Support compliance with safety programs and applicable federal state and local laws.
• Implement safety policies standards and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents injuries and property damage.
• Coordinate and deliver safety training programs to educate employees on standard methodologies and ensure their understanding and compliance.
• Provide expert mentorship and advice to warehouse staff on safety matters including safe handling of equipment accurate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ergonomics.
• Interact with operation leaders to ensure safety and operations strategies are properly integrated and implemented.
• Respond to all safety-related incidents.
• Investigate incidents documenting findings root causes and recommendations for preventive measures. Ensure all incidents are properly reported in the companys incident management system.
• Support emergency preparedness efforts including assisting with evacuation drills response protocols and maintaining emergency equipment.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in safety regulations recommending vital updates to the safety program as needed.
• Engage and collaborate with the Safety & Security team in all key DC activities as necessary.
• Other duties as required and assigned.

Youll Need to Have:

• Minimum of one years experience with primary duties in safety and compliance including providing workplace safety and compliance training.
• Knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations and workplace safety best practices.
• Ability to work on own initiative and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to track safety performance and generate reports.
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects.
• Ability to work on-site 5 days a week and able to work a flexible schedule when needed including weekends and holidays.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Wed Love to See:

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Occupational Safety but not required.
• OSHA 10-Hour Certification or other safety-related certifications (e.g. First Aid/CPR/AED).
• Ability to problem-solve be forward thinking and anticipate needs.
