JOB TITLE: K-12 Instructional Systems Coach REPORTS TO: Deputy Superintendent Building Principal EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED: 1. At least 5 years of successful teaching experience (preferred)2. Proven track record in use of best practice instructional methods the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction and the ability to build professional coaching relationships solve problems plan collaboratively and provide feedback effectively 3. Demonstrated skills in working with adult learners 4. Experience teaching key content area curriculum 5. Experience with teachers as a staff developer6. A valid teaching certificate issued by the Rhode Island Department of Education7. Knowledgeable in the structures and systems that support an MTSS FrameworkIn accordance with Rhode Islands Right to Read Act all educators must demonstrate awareness of and/or proficiency in the Science of Reading. Preferred candidates will have completed an approved Right to Read training program or possess current certification of proficiency or awareness. If not already trained the selected candidate must demonstrate a willingness to complete approved training within their first year of SUMMARY: Under direction of the Assistant Superintendent and School Principal plans and provides for appropriate coaching and technology support for teachers. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual physical social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Helps to plan for monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students parents staff and community. Helps teachers with the systems and structures that support teaching and learning. Provides teachers with the coaching needed to create a blended learning environment. Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitors appropriate use and care of student data data systems materials and FUNCTIONS: 1. Provide school and district-based high quality standards-based professional development work with certified and classified staff (in groups and individually) to refine their knowledge and skills of the systems and structures that support high quality instruction.2. Conduct focused classroom demonstration lessons observations and provide specific feedback to teachers.3. Meet and collaborate with academic coordinators and other academic administrators on curriculum development and opportunities for technology integration. 4. Identify technology and system competencies among instructional staff in collaboration with administrators and deliver appropriate coaching training and resources to support professional growth of adult learners. 5. Provide training to certified and classified staff in the use of instructional and district standard software products for the purpose of improving work efficiency and effectiveness by enhancing the ability to use new and existing software. 6. Coach teachers in and model design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences using a variety of research- based learner-centered instructional strategies resources and assessment tools. 7. Coach teachers to address diverse needs and interests of all students through the use of instructional strategies that have proven to increase student achievement emphasizing innovation and higher order thinking skills.8. Coach teachers on researching and providing evidence-based interventions for students. 9. Maintain a current knowledge of effective instructional and coaching pedagogies. 10. Assist in identifying planning and facilitating workshops and professional learning opportunities for teachers. 11. Coordinate and participate in the Curricular Technology Committee meetings and activities.12. Coordinate action research in collaboration with teachers and PLT/PLC groups to evaluate the effectiveness of coaching support. 13. Participate in the decision making processes related to instructional technology acquisition and deployment.14. Other Duties as assigned and approved by the SuperintendentPHYSICAL DEMANDS: 1. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and manipulate paper 4. See to read prepare documents and reports and to observe students 5. Able to meet multiple demands from several people and meet deadlines with severe time constraints 6. Sit or stand for extended periods of time in both indoor and outdoor environments and possible running in order to maintain a safe learning environment 7. Stamina to work irregular or extended hours to include a full day and then attending meetings or supervising evening events 8. Work at a desk conference table small student classroom table or in meetings in various configurations 9. Kneel bend at the waist and reach overhead above the shoulders and horizontally10. Lifting carrying pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The work year shall consist of 181 days (plus 10 additional days approved by the Deputy Superintendent and paid at the rate established in the NEA Portsmouth contract). Extra days stipend: $2500EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the process and timelines established in the Support Professional Model of the Rhode Island Educator Evaluation System.
