Job Description
Capital One is seeking a Director Program Execution and Portfolio Management to deliver and operate large complex technology programs within Card Data Now and across Card. Success in the role requires an innovative mind a proven track record of developing and managing portfolio processes and its organizational change management risk and compliance management rigorous analytical skills and a passion for partnering with tech leaders and lines of business to drive organizational change.
As a Director Program Execution and Portfolio Management within Card Data Now you will be a part of a talented Program Office that helps to bring our data strategy to life for Card. In this exciting role you will be responsible for executing on strategy through high priority projects in partnership with our Product and Tech partners in Card Data and in collaboration with our Enterprise and Card stakeholders.
The immediate focus for the successful candidate will be on implementing a comprehensive intent intake prioritization and portfolio monitoring process for Card Data Now data imperatives and prioritized initiatives. In addition you will be leading a team of associates who will support that work and existing project management assignments across current Data Imperatives and other critical issue and event resolution workstreams. On any given day you will connect with leaders across our product tech and Enterprise stakeholders to influence decisions while representing the holistic view of our data initiatives. This role will be critical to the collective success of the Card Data Strategy and Program Execution team.

Capabilities to monitor progress recognize successes and learn from failures
Effective risk and issue intake assessment mitigation escalation and change control practices
What youll do:
Design and implement a strategy and process for well-managed portfolio prioritization and management stakeholder engagement and reporting
Implement a standard set of portfolio management tools templates and practices to be used across programs creating consistency and transparency for the engaged teams
Develop strong relationships with associates and leaders across Card to proactively identify risks and opportunities for horizontal thinking
Drive continuous improvement of the strategy with a customer focus; understanding how to balance the needs of the team the portfolio and the business while also aligning with industry best practices
Establish effective communication and prioritization mechanisms across teams within the line of business
Partner with data and tooling teams to define and implement actionable reports for senior leadership
Communicate with leadership and engineering teams across Card to drive and report upon execution of prioritized initiatives in addition to working with senior leaders on how to effectively manage their portfolio providing them the data needed to make effective portfolio related decisions in the best interest of their teams and the business
Develop a collaborative culture based on transparency and partnership
Who you are:
Have a proven track record of driving portfolio management processes across organizations and managing the delivery of tech and transformation activities
Known for your strong quantitative background to support data-informed decision making
Strong portfolio project and program management and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
Can work autonomously and knows when to escalate in a timely manner with direct manager and leadership
Confident to champion unpopular ideas even with more senior leaders
Ability to navigate ambiguous situations
Collaborative team player attitude with the ability to navigate and influence the organization
Balances ownership with collaboration and gives appropriate credit to contributors
Communication skills that can positively drive transformational change
Contributor to continuous improvement of project / portfolio management practices
Support interactions with Internal Audit and Regulatory agencies related to our work as applicable
Participate in lead others and execute other special projects for the team on a periodic basis
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma GED or equivalent certification
At least 7 years of process project or program management experience
At least 3 years of portfolio management experience
At least 5 years of people management experience
At least 3 years of Risk and compliance experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
5 years of intake and portfolio management experience
6 years of experience in planning and executing data analysis projects
PMP Lean Agile or Six Sigma certification
Strong communication and collaboration skills

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean VA: $200100 - $228400 for Director Project ManagementCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
