Position:9thGrade Biology Teacher (with Forensic Science Elective)
Location:Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School BethlehemPA
Schedule:Full-Time 10-Month Position paid over 12 months
Start Date:August11 2025
Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School (LVA) is seeking a science educator who loves creating engaging lessons and hands-on labs. The role includes teaching 9thGrade Biology and offering a Forensic Science elective in an inquiry-driven International Baccalaureate (IB) setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach 9thGrade Biology aligned with Pennsylvania Biology Keystone standards.
- Design and deliver an engaging Forensic Science elective that emphasizes investigation problem-solving and authentic applications.
- Embed IB MYP philosophy into curriculum assessment and classroom culture.
- Create hands-on labs and interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Collaborate with colleagues on unit planning assessments and student support.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to ongoing progress monitoring and reporting.
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to IB pedagogy and science instruction.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Pennsylvania Biology712 Certification
- Prior high-school science teaching experience
- Strong content knowledge in biology and inquiry-based pedagogy
- Interest or background in forensic science (preferred)
- Excellent communication organization and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive academically rigorous environment
