Job Description
Job Summary: University School is seeking a passionate knowledgeable and innovative Middle School Teacher to teach Geometry Algebra I and Computer Science. Mathematics courses are for high-school credit and taught to 6th through 8th grade students. Computer Science courses are taught as a specialty course to 5th and 6th grade students. The ideal candidate will inspire young learners to develop critical thinking problem-solving skills and a love for mathematics and technology in a dynamic challenging and supportive learning environment. Essential Functions (Responsibilities): Plans prepares and delivers engaging lessons in Geometry Algebra and Computer Science for 5th through 8th grade students. Differentiates instruction to meet the diverse learning needs abilities and interests of students. Designs and implements assessments to measure student learning and adjusts instruction accordingly. Fosters a classroom culture that encourages curiosity collaboration creative thinking resilience and respect. Thoughtfully integrates technology and project-based learning into the curriculum. Maintains accurate records of student progress attendance and other required documentation. Demonstrates strong classroom management skills that promote positive relationships. Communicates regularly and effectively with students parents and colleagues. Participates in departmental meetings professional development and school-wide initiatives and events. Creates a safe inclusive and welcoming school environment for all. Assists the Assistant Director for Academics with maintenance of learning platforms and IT assets. Other duties as assigned or requested by Director or Assistant Director.

Required Qualifications
Knowledge/Skill/Ability Strong understanding of high school Geometry and Algebra I curriculum standards and instructional methods. Familiarity with teaching basic programming concepts and computer science principles to young learners. Ability to incorporate a variety of instructional strategies including inquiry-based and experiential learning. Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills. Natural curiosity and commitment to continuous professional growth. Creative flexible and student-centered mindset. A collaborative spirit and willingness to contribute to a dynamic team. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Equivalent Education/Experience Bachelors degree in Mathematics Computer Science Education or related field required Valid teaching credential for high school math education (or eligibility to obtain one). Previous experience teaching primary or secondary school children (preferably in a school setting). Experience using educational technology and online learning platforms. Knowledge of Python Scratch or other beginner programming languages. Background designing interdisciplinary or STEM -based projects. Training and experience in differentiated instruction and assessment. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 preferred.
