Senior Legal Assistant/Paralegal
Location: Vancouver BC
Salary Range: $65000 - $75000
Our client a well-established firm in downtown Vancouver is looking for a Senior Legal Assistant or Intermediate Paralegal to join their Collections practice group.
Youll work closely with clients legal counsel and third parties to manage the full lifecycle of strata and real estate-related collections files from intake through to resolution.Key ResponsibilitiesClient Management & Communication- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients property managers lenders (banks credit unions private lenders) legal counsel and government agencies.
- Handle all client communications related to collections matters including direct emails phone calls and Zoom/in-person meetings.
- Build and maintain strong ongoing relationships with clients.
Document Drafting & Legal Support- Draft demand letters court documents and other legal correspondenceoften with minimal revisions required from lawyers.
- Produce high-quality work often performed by junior lawyers demonstrating strong independent judgment and legal knowledge.
Case & Practice Management- Independently manage collections files by prioritizing deadlines limitation periods and client preferences.
- Coordinate communications across multiple time zones (e.g. EST lenders overseas owners).
- Oversee billing functions prepare accurate payout statements and minimize write-offs through meticulous financial oversight.
Team Leadership- Train and supervise other timekeepers contributing to the collections practice.
- Support firm lawyers by taking on specialized tasks allowing them to focus on higher-level matters.
- Manage high-volume workloads while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and client care.
Qualifications- 5 years experience in a legal assistant or paralegal role ideally with a focus on collections strata or real estate law.
- Strong drafting skills with the ability to prepare demand letters and court documents independently.
- Proven ability to manage files prioritize competing deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
- Experience managing junior staff or legal assistants is strongly preferred.
- High emotional intelligence discretion and a client-focused mindset.
- Openness to occasionally working outside of standard office hours.
