Are you a visionary leader with a passion for cultivating talent and building impactful programs Do you dream of shaping the future of dental care in your community The Multnomah County Health Department is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Dental Workforce Development Supervisor to launch and lead the groundbreaking Dental Assistant and EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Assistant) Workforce Development Program!

As the Dental Workforce Development Supervisor your duties include:
Program Development & Management: Design implement and oversee a comprehensive workforce training program for Dental Assistants and Expanded Function Dental Assistants standardizing workflows across all Multnomah County Health Department dental programs (including clinics school programs and mobile units). Carry out grant responsibilities - which could include helping prepare pertinent documentation associated with grant implementation and tracking. Budget preparation cost center charging and tracking writing reports for grant opportunities etc.
Clinical & Staff Support: Identify assess and work with dental leadership to implement best practices in Dental Assistant workflows. Skill development and learning requirements demonstrated in knowledge and practical demonstration of duties. Engage with program supervisors providers and other dental staff to serve as mentors or training assistants. Coach staff to work with various peers communication styles and locations.
Standardize Dental Operations & Workflows: Youll be responsible for standardizing work processes across all Multnomah County Health Department dental programs including clinics school sealant programs student health centers and mobile dental units by developing evidence-based protocols standing orders and policies.
Collaborate & Ensure Quality: Youll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide dental assisting consultation lead quality improvement initiatives and partner with various stakeholders to communicate updates and ensure consistent policies and procedures for Dental Assistants and EFDAs across all program areas.
Stakeholder Communication & Program Advocacy: Youll ensure transparent communication of program progress updates and challenges to stakeholders and leadership while also serving as a key liaison and consultant for dental leadership on practice issues and performance improvement initiatives. This includes collaborating with Health Communications to develop recruitment materials and representing the organization at workforce development events.
Partnership & Outreach: Identify develop and maintain workforce development partnerships with external program coordinators that have similar WFD pathways. Act as a representative on committees interagency task forces. Work with Community Based Organizations (CBO) to promote the dental workforce development program as we increase our EFDA workforce such as PCC CLIMB and other partnerships with the Health Recruiting team. Work collaboratively with other workforce development leads within the organization.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Bachelors degree in healthcare administration business management or related field. (In lieu of a degree we will consider relevant education and experience)
3 years of experience in healthcare operations management with a strong understanding of financial management supervision and quality improvement.
Proven track record of effective leadership and team management.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster a culture of inclusion and collaboration.
Required Licenses / Certifications:
One of the following:
-Certification as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) in the State of Oregon; OR
-Licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist with the Oregon Board of Dentistry
Must have a Valid Drivers License
Valid CPR / BLS Certification upon hire
Preferred Qualifications/ Transferable Skills*: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/ transferable skills to qualify. However keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. Please clearly explain on your application how you meet any of the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills.
Hands-on experience coordinating and developing multiple workflows or training in an academic FQHC or healthcare setting.
Experience leading and supervising teams
Shown ability to organize plan and create recruiting events
Experience in a dental office setting
