    Job Summary:
    The Family and Community Engagement Advocate is responsible and accountable for assisting identified at-risk Tier 11 and Tier III students in frequent monitoring of students progress in attendance. The primary functions of this role is to support the implementation of strategies to improve the engagement of students and families to increase full day attendance and two-way communication between key stakeholders: students families and the IAF school community.

    Description of Duties:

    • Actively engage in understanding barriers and challenges that are impacting studentsmotivation attitudes beliefs physical presence at school on time each day for the full day. This may be completed through phone calls home visits emails surveys in-person and virtual interactions etc.
    • Collaborates with internal and external community partners to minimize barriers andchallenges as identified by the family. With key on-campus community partners being but not limited to; Community Referrals to Genesee Health Plan (GHP) and Regional Alliance for Healthy Schools (RAHS) Flint Center for Educational Excellence The Center etc.
    • Collaborates with grade level teams to identify attendance challenges and to engage theparents/guardians in solution-driven outcomes. This will include monitoring documentation logs attending grade level meetings meeting 1:1 or small groups of staff to better understand overall attendance attendance taking for each day for the full day discrepancies and other concerns that may arise.
    • Interprets and analyzes data to improve full day attendance in alignment with the Michigan Continuous Improvement Plan (MICIP) goals.
    • Conducts weekly home visits.
    • Responsible for data collection and reconciliation of daily attendance documentation logs and home visits.
    • Represents FACE team at MTSS meetings and other committees to ensure studentsattendance concerns are addressed and actively contributes to the discussion or planning session.
    • Assist with the implementation of the Phoenix Adult Resource Center (PARC). This includes uniform support.
    • Serves as a Check and Connect Mentor and SOAR For More (Check In/Check Out) for a portfolio of students and provides monthly engagement for identified families.
    • Participates in court related attendance matters on a case by case basis.
    • Participates in celebrations field days field trips and other school sponsored events/activities.
    • Serves as the FACE representative for Attendance Mediations.

    Motivating and Communicating with Students

    • Effectively communicates with students staff families and community surrounding attendance matters.
    • Provide exceptional customer service (both written and verbal) to students staff families and community partners.

    Positive Professional Relationships

    • Promotes a positive and healthy work environment within the FACE team and school-community.
    • Work closely with FACE Director Dean of Academics Dean of Students MTSS
    • Coordinator and other team members as identified to support Tier II and Tier III attendance strategies.
    • Participates in at least one school wide committee to build/strengthen relationships diversify skills and promote the goals of the school community.

    • Actively participates in 1:1 Meetings FACE Team meetings and other meetings to support solution-based outcomes.
    • Contributes to the development planning and implementation of the school-wide attendance efforts.
    • Work closely with FACE Director Dean of Academics Dean of Students MTSS
    • Coordinator and other team members as identified to support Tier II and Tier III attendance strategies.
    • Communicates concerns questions and ideas with FACE Director and other team members as necessary.
    • Supports and/or delivers (attendance) presentations in small groups 1:1 or large school wide teams.
    • Ability to support and maintain a portfolio of tasks and projects simultaneously.
    • Organize and schedule time commitments to meet demands of the job.

    Qualifications: Must possess a Bachelors degree in counseling social work psychology education or a related field with some related experience providing services for school aged children; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the noted knowledge skills and abilities. Must possess excellent assessment case management interpersonal and communication skills. Must possess the ability to understand analyze data; provide support activities for students and their families. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students parents staff and outside agencies.

    Physical Demands & Work Environment

    In order to successfully perform the essential duties of this job the employee would ideally be able to meet the following physical demands:
    • Occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
    • Stand and walk frequently.
    • Withstand all demands presented by outside weather conditions at any time of the year.
    • Withstand a moderate noise level.
