General Responsibilities
Performs routine clerical and technical work requiring computer skills and as clerical support to a department or school. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Essential Functions
Education and Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent or any combination of education and experience including or supplemented by courses in clerical experience.
Physical Requirements
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally up to 10 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires reaching lifting fingering grasping and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for color perception preparing and analyzing written or computer data visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts operation of machines determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of business English spelling and arithmetic; ability to speak Spanish a plus. Ability to plan and carry out clerical operations involving transactions requiring effective accountability and accurate records; ability to read understand and translate departmental rules policies and regulations; ability to make arithmetic calculations and to establish and maintain effective filing systems; ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; ability to understand and follow detailed written and oral instructions.
