This full-time non-exempt role focuses on enhancing workplace safety by reviewing and improving safety programs managing incident investigations overseeing workers compensation claims and helping reduce risk between staff and clients. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in safety protocols and passionate about creating a secure and supportive environment for both staff and clients.

POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for multiple aspects of Human Resources (HR) and safety daily operations including performing continual review modification and improvement of existing safety programs and safety procedures evaluating and working to mitigate risk between staff and clients as well as managing workers compensation claims and incident investigations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) to four (4) years of occupational HR and/or safety experience required.
Experience developing coordinating and conducting HR and/or safety training required.
One (1) year experience in managing multiple HR and/or safety functions required.
Thorough working knowledge of federal state and local HR and safety regulations and best practices.
Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills. Impeccable grammar spelling and proofreading skills.
Strong analytical and organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Proactive thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to anticipate Agency needs use good judgment and take initiative to respond appropriately.
Word processing experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word Excel and Access. Human Resource Information System (HRIS) experience software preferred.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints.
Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing.
Valid California drivers license and proof of auto insurance coverage.
Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points- if you are under the age of 25 our insurance company will not allow any points.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
Professional certifications and/or accreditations including but not limited to:
Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
Safety Management Specialist (SMS)
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Certified Safety and Health Manager(CSHM)
Experience with PayCom HR and payroll software.
DUTIES:
Duties include but are not limited to the following core areas. Contribute to a team effort by performing other duties and completing special projects as assigned.
Safety:
Manages activities as necessary to evaluate and reduce potential risks to employee health and well-being including but not limited to daily interactions between staff as well as between staff and clients.
Reviews HSE programs for accuracy and updates as appropriate including but not limited to the Injury and Illness Prevention Program Hazard Communications Program Emergency Action Plans Bloodborne Pathogens Program Indoor and Outdoor Heat Illness Prevention Program and Workplace Violence Prevntion Program.
Develops and executes on site-specific health safety and environmental policies and procedures for staff as well as staff-client interactions.
Manages all aspects of safety training from development to delivery and tracking to ensure compliance with site and Cal/OSHA regulations and delivers new hire safety and quality orientation.
Ensures compliance with all Federal State and local regulations including but not limited to Cal/OSHA Cal/EPA DPR USDOT and other applicable agencies.
Ensures all company locations complete required annual safety drills and maintain proper documentation in compliance with safety regulations.
Leads the agency Safety Committee by organizing and facilitating quarterly meetings to promote safety awareness compliance and continuous improvement across the organization.
Coordinates with the Facilities Manager to ensure that all required paperwork relating to transportation regulations is maintained.
Coordinates with the Facilities Manager annual fire inspections monthly safety checks of fire extinguishers and first aid kits and annual service for all Agency fire extinguishers including those used by Development & Communications Department for special events.
Works in collaboration with HR Senior Specialists to develop a training program that plans organizes and tracks all employee training activities related to safety and job-specific requirements.
Supports awareness initiatives that reinforce the safety program and encourage employee involvement.
Maintains files and records that accurately document training activity of all affected employees.
Advocates to improve safety culture through positive influence and collaborative partnership within agency operations.
Incident Reporting Administration:
Directs the incident reporting system for staff-only and staff-client incidents including coordinating specific incident investations directing corrective action with the employees and their leadership documenting the process and making recommendations for engineered solutions with Facilities Manager if needed.
Develops incident trend reports to share with leadership and develop programs for improving performance ensuring meaningful root causes are identified.
Workers Compensation Administration:
Coordinates all work injury claims and process including supporting the injured/ill employee throughout the duration of their claim managing any leave in coordination with other HR staff and their supervisor and coordinates all aspects of return to work including modified duty accommodations if applicable.
Maintains a positive working relationship with insurance agency partners in support of both our employees and the agencys best interests.
Tracks data for reporting (i.e. OSHA Log COVID etc).
