QA Lead - Question Upload Team

Company Overview

We are a SaaS company providing digital assessment and practice platforms for SAT/ACT tutoring companies. Our platform enables tutoring businesses to assign tests to their students and receive detailed performance analytics.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced QA Lead to manage and lead our Question Upload Team of 3 members. This role is critical to ensuring the quality and accuracy of test content as it moves from our expert content authors to our digital platform. You will oversee the entire quality assurance process for question banks across SAT Math Reading & Writing and ACT subjects.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of 3 QA specialists
  • Establish clear quality standards and testing protocols
  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews
  • Coordinate workload distribution and prioritization
  • Provide training on new testing procedures and platform updates

Quality Assurance Oversight

  • Review and validate question banks received from content authors (SAT Math Reading & Writing ACT specialists)
  • Ensure zero data entry errors in question uploads
  • Verify proper test configuration and settings
  • Conduct comprehensive end-to-end testing of uploaded assessments
  • Validate all multimedia elements (images graphs charts) are correctly uploaded and displayed

Testing & Validation

  • Personally take complete tests post-upload to identify any issues
  • Check for formatting inconsistencies missing content or technical errors
  • Verify answer keys and scoring accuracy
  • Ensure proper question randomization and test flow
  • Test platform functionality across different devices and browsers

Process Improvement

  • Develop and maintain QA checklists and standard operating procedures
  • Identify bottlenecks in the upload process and recommend solutions
  • Implement quality metrics and reporting systems
  • Collaborate with development team on platform improvements
  • Create documentation for common issues and resolutions

Stakeholder Communication

  • Provide regular updates to management on team performance and quality metrics
  • Communicate with content authors regarding question formatting requirements
  • Coordinate with customer success team on any quality-related client issues
  • Report critical issues to development and product teams

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Education English Mathematics or related field
  • 3 years of experience in quality assurance or educational content review
  • 2 years of team leadership experience
  • Experience with standardized test preparation (SAT/ACT preferred)

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with content management systems and testing platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors quickly
  • Experience with test administration and assessment tools
  • Basic understanding of HTML/formatting for digital content
  • Familiarity with various file formats (PDF image files etc.)

Soft Skills

  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Problem-solving mindset with focus on continuous improvement
  • High level of accuracy and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in EdTech or SaaS environment
  • Background in test preparation or educational assessment
  • Familiarity with SAT/ACT test formats and question types
  • Experience with agile methodologies and project management tools
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards for educational content

  • Error rate in uploaded questions (target: <0.1%)
  • Time from question receipt to platform deployment
  • Team productivity and efficiency metrics
  • Customer satisfaction scores related to content quality
  • Compliance with testing deadlines and schedules
