Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts(VCUarts) Department of Graphic Design isrecruiting a pool of applicants on an ongoing basis for adjunct teachingpositions. The Department of Graphic Design will consult the adjunct applicantpool and contact qualified applicants whose credentials match our specificteaching needs on an as-needed basis. Given these criteria this pool will only be assessed when anadjunct opportunity arises.
Possible adjunct opportunities could includeteaching a course(s) in any of the areas of study offered by the department of GraphicDesign. A link to Graphic Design course descriptions from VCUs UndergraduateBulletin can be found at are expected to be thoughtful and proactive members of the GraphicDesign community and have a desire to work with a student population in acollaborative and learning-centered collective of other adjunct instructors students faculty and staff.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated skills andexperience in one or several of the following areas of expertise:
1. Design Studio includes teaching students the development and process ofdesign ideas and philosophies design principles and elements human factorsand behavior creative problem-solving research survey and analysis andproject development.
2. Studio Management and Business Practices able to address the professionaland business practices as they relate to the graphic design professionincluding responsibilities services ethics business and project managementand marketing.
3. Graduate-level Seminar Topics a demonstrable record in design relatedresearch and praxis that can be fashioned into a highly structured series oflectures readings and opportunities for student writing and related researchinvestigations.
Minimum Qualifications
-Terminal degree (MFA)in a related field orBFAwith additional training and/orprofessional experience that equates and/or parallels the artistic developmentexpected in a terminal degree holder.
-Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentation andcommunication skills.
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering anenvironment of respect professionalism and civility with a population offaculty staff and students from various backgrounds and experiences or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
