Position Summary
The Communications Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the development team by executing communication strategies that engage donors volunteers supporters and the broader community. This position is responsible for content creation social media management email marketing and other storytelling initiatives that enhance fundraising efforts and strengthen the organizations mission and brand. This full-time exempt position reports to the Director of Development.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Develop and manage compelling content for donor communications newsletters website and social media platforms.
- Create impact stories testimonials and donor spotlights to showcase the organizations mission.
- Work in partnership with CARITAS contracted marketing team to gather materials for annual campaigns including fundraising appeals annual reports and other supporter communications.
Social Media & Digital Marketing
- Manage CARITAS social media presence across various platforms (Instagram Facebook LinkedIn and YouTube).
- Develop content calendars and track engagement metrics to optimize reach and impact.
- Coordinate digital fundraising campaigns in collaboration with printed appeals.
Email & Print Communications
- Create and schedule donor engagement emails including newsletters thank-you messages and event invitations.
- Support the design and production of print and digital materials.
- Maintain consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels.
Event Promotion & Support
- Assist in the promotion of fundraising volunteer and stewardship events through digital and print materials.
- Capture and share event highlights through photography video and live social media updates.
Website Management & Maintenance
- Update and maintain website content ensuring accuracy and alignment with branding.
- Ensure program information impact statistics and success stories are current and accurately reflect the organizations work.
- Monitor website analytics and performance.
Qualifications
- An interest and desire to work in human services. An understanding of the underlying causes of homelessness and substance use disorder is preferred.
- Bachelors Degree and between 1-3 years of experience in communications marketing development or a related field.
- Strong writing editing and storytelling skills.
- Natural ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Proficiency in social media platforms email marketing tools and content management systems (e.g. WordPress Constant Contact).
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
