Position Type: Part-time (23-25 hours/week)
Reports To: Campus Store/Mailroom Manager
Schedule:
Regular Hours:
Monday & Friday: 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday - Thursday: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Occasional Weekend Hours: 2-3 hours as needed during breaks/holidays to maintain mailroom operations while students are off campus.
Summer Schedule: Reduced to 20 hours per week.
The Part-Time Mailroom Assistant supports the daily operations of the campus mailroom by ensuring efficient mail and package processing supervising student workers maintaining accurate records and providing excellent customer service to students faculty and staff.
Assist with training and supervision of student workers in performing daily mailroom tasks.
Receive and sign for all deliveries verifying proper addressing to Bethel University and immediately addressing any errors with delivery personnel.
Support student workers in sorting and distributing mail and packages to students and campus departments.
Monitor and respond to inquiries sent to the mailroom email account.
Operate postage equipment and process outgoing mail ensuring accurate recording of departmental postage charges.
Maintain accurate monthly records of departmental mail charges and report to the Mailroom Manager.
Assist with mail/package delivery routes across campus.
Provide courteous and effective customer service to delivery personnel students faculty and staff.
Maintain cleanliness organization and general upkeep of the mailroom.
Collaborate with the Campus Store Manager to resolve issues and support operational needs.
In the absence of the Mailroom Manager oversee mailroom and campus store operations including:
Supervising student workers
Operating the cash register
Troubleshooting Shopify and other point-of-sale systems
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the workday
Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 35 pounds
Valid drivers license
Ability to operate a golf cart for campus mail/package delivery
Basic proficiency with technology including recordkeeping and point-of-sale systems
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Customer service experience preferred
