Job Description and Responsivities
Our Portland location is currently seeking an Industrial Engineer to improve manufacturing throughput minimize defects and eliminate unnecessary handling and rework. This role will coordinate extensively between all departments and bring transparency to the root cause of process disruptions and inefficiencies. This person will work within interdisciplinary teams to implement solutions and systemic fixes to identified problems.
Collaborates with operations personnel and the quality assurance department to gain a deep understanding of operational processes and our products
Interacts with the Level 1/2/3 databases to extract and analyze processing data to investigate root cause
Develops strategies to reduce defects delays and other missed opportunities
Gathers and analyzes data to produce proof-of-concept models for process improvement ensuring that the data recorded accurately represents the process
Collaborates with engineering personnel to gather information on equipment limitations and continually improve equipment performance
Coordinates with the Quality team to draft/revise Standard Operating Procedures and perform audits for failures or breakdowns procedures
Observes and evaluates the root cause of bottlenecking conditions and recommends solutions to alleviate constraints
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Statistics Computer Materials Science or Manufacturing Industrial Mechanical Engineering or any comparable degree
0-3 years of work history in a manufacturing setting with experience working in cross functional teams
Demonstrated experience utilizing data visualization tools (Excel Tableau Minitab)
Knowledge in Database Management Systems and familiar with SQL to extract and manipulate data within the internal database
Proficient in SPC with the ability to work with both parametric and nonparametric data
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to navigate opposing viewpoints and successfully influence others to make data-driven decisions
Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships across levels functions and the organization at large
Green or Black Belt Certification and familiar with Lean Six Sigma principals and experience applying problem solving techniques (PDCA DMAIC) preferred
Experience simulating process flow (FlexSim) preferred
PMP certification or history of effective project management/leadership preferred
