Summary/Objective of Position:
Coordinates activities and events to enhance the growth and development of students by providing social recreational cultural life skills and educational opportunities for all students living on campus.
Description of Essential Functions of the Position

- Essential Job Functions:
- Promotes organizes and coordinates all student-related activities and functions;
- Regularly assess the needs of students to provide targeted programs.
- Collaborate with staff/faculty and outside entities to sponsor education programs on student issues such as alcohol awareness domestic violence etc. for students.
- Plan organize communicate and implement department events.
- Assist student resident advisors with planning and carrying out their events.
- Collaborate with other departments to plan and implement activities with residents.
- Attend monthly hall meetings for planning programs and activities and disseminating information.
- Maintains accurate records of all student events and student participation.
- Participates in recruitment events on campus and in the community to present information on Residence Life.
- Maintains and regularly publishes an up-to-date calendar of activities and events that is made readily available to all on-campus students:
- Coordinates travel arrangements for student-related travel in accordance with college policies and procedures
- Communicates with current and potential students about events and/or student life opportunities available on campus.
- Maintains confidentiality of information in the course of business regarding students supervisors or other employees.
- Contributes to a safe educational and working environment by participating in all drills and training and being prepared to act should a health or safety emergency occur
- Skillfully handles complaints and inquiries or refers complaints and requests to other staff when warranted.
- Complete budget and administrative paperwork associated with the programming and budget process.
- General & Administrative Functions:
- Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and staff training throughout the year. Be available to residents daily.
- Assist students to connect with staff/faculty staff/faculty and directs students to appropriate College departments or personnel for support.
- Greet all visitors courteously and professionally.
- Provide the students and public with specifics such as program information research and respond to requests for general and specialized information regarding departmental functions that may require the use of judgment tact and sensitivity and the interrelation of policies and procedures
- Collaborate and assist in the Check-in and Check-out process key assignments student room assignments in-hall and between-hall transfers.
- Participates in on-call duty rotation throughout the year.
- Receive and promptly process requests for maintenance repairs and custodial needs received from residents
- Assist in special events where the Residence Life department plays an important role such as RA selections graduation etc.
- Transports students/staff/faculty as needed.
- Assists and provides general cleaning service to common areas offices storage areas including restrooms computer labs kitchens laundry rooms lobby all windows (interior/exterior) floors walls fixtures etc.
- Assists with setting up/cleaning rooms for guest room rentals.
- Be familiar with and enforce the rules and regulations of the College and Residence Life program.
- Submit monthly reports of activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Minimum:
- Associates Degree
- One to three years related work experience; preferably in a community college or university setting.
Preferred:
- Bachelors degree
- One to three years related work experience; preferably in a community college or university setting.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge and experience using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students faculty and the general public
- Customer service experience
- Knowledge of understanding of diversity and the ability to interact with a wide variety of people
Skills:
- Organizational skills with attention to detail
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students employees and the public
- Public speaking and presentation skills
- Effective verbal written and listening communication skills
Abilities:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to efficiently multitask and conduct/complete independent work assignments
- Establish and maintain professional relationships and etiquette with the students faculty/staff and the public
- Be a positive influence on students faculty and staff and maintain appropriate boundaries with students and student workers
- Demonstrate strong independent judgment and problem-solving skills
- Must have decision-making skills and the ability to maintain accuracy in the preparation of data for reports
Physical Requirements Work Environment & Travel:
- Work may require sitting near vision use for reading and computer use lifting stooping bending stretching walking standing pushing pulling reaching and other physical exertion
- Cleaning duties may require moving furniture or other items
Other Requirement(s):
- Must have a valid state-issued drivers license to transport students staff/faculty as needed
- Must be certified or willing to be certified in First Aid/CPR Defensive Driving Fire Safety and other certifications that may be related to the position.
