Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective:This position is responsible for ensuring the safe transport of students by implementingstudents IEP requirements and behavior plans. This individual is responsible to assist students in and out of the vehiclecar seats and specialized securements. This individual must assist drivers and learn the run to help with substitution.
Essential Functions:
- Load and unload students as required
- Be knowledgeable of the unique needs of students with special needs
- Assist in evacuation drills and other emergencies
- Communicate effectively with school staff students and parents
- Operate special equipment including special equipment including special car seats and safety equipment
- Assist the driver
- Learn the route so as to direct a substitute who may be asked to drive the run
- Observe the students to keep them safe in their seat
- Attend all required trainings as assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation
- Address child safety and behavioral concerns while the vehicle is in motion
- Follows the policies and procedures outlined in the Bucks County Transportation Manual

While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods and to climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work vary but are Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
