Job Description

Physician Assistant-Surgery (Permanent Role)

Location: Fort Worth TX 76104
Shift: Full Time Days 08:00 AM - 05:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
Compensation: Based on experience

Essential Functions:
  • Conducts comprehensive or focused physical exams and obtains detailed medical histories.
  • Orders interprets and evaluates diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions and health needs.
  • Prescribes medications and therapeutic treatments in accordance with protocols and scope of practice.
  • Develops implements and monitors evidence-based outcome-driven patient treatment plans.
  • Provides pre- and post-operative care including inpatient rounding and Emergency Department consultations.
  • Performs minor procedures and assists in surgical operations under the supervision of a physician.
  • Counsels patients and families on medical conditions medications nutrition and wellness strategies.
  • Maintains accurate medical documentation and refers patients appropriately when beyond scope.
  • Offers specialty consultations and actively participates in multidisciplinary care planning.
  • Participates in after-hours or weekend coverage as needed by the department.
Key Success Factors:
  • Deep understanding of human anatomy pharmacology surgical principles and treatment protocols.
  • Skilled in clinical decision-making and evidence-based practices.
  • Proficient with EMRs and other healthcare-related software.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to interpret lab results and imaging studies.
  • Comfortable working in high-pressure clinical environments.
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to patient-centered care.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Experience: (Less than 1 year required).
  • License:
    • Active Physician Assistant license in the state of Texas.
    • Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
