Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Application Engineer to join our innovative OELS (Original Equipment Solutions) team in Rochester Hills United States. In this role you will be the link between development the customer and the sales department with the aim to generate innovative technical solutions based on validated technologies for automotive customers. Adaption of existing products/systems into new customer projects. Support or lead the Project management activities by using relevant Project Management Tools.

Area of Responsibility/ Main Tasks:

  • Execution and monitoring of project-specific development activities within product Application Engineering
  • Reporting to the local Head of Application engineering Segment
  • Development of products according to customer specific requirements
  • Execution of the technical project-specific customer service
  • Support of sales and project management in customer service
  • Acquisition of new projects in cooperation with the sales department
  • Completion of all deliverables for Application Engineering specified within the project management system (Quality Gate System)
  • Documentation of all project activities of Application Engineering in the project management system
  • Provide support for serial products in production for the assigned customer or product group
  • Evaluate feasibility checks for RFQs and product design changes working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Support for new and change management projects in the PLC
  • Analyzing and improving existing products
  • Improvement of methods and engineering tools
  • Act and compel colleagues to behave as ambassadors for Quality and Safety
  • Understand the importance of technical compliance and ensure the adherence thereof in daily business
  • Be dedicated to maximizing internal & external customer satisfaction by demonstrating ownership dedication towards ensuring high-quality results and process-orientation
  • Ownership of the quality of all outputs in the dedicated responsibility area as process member
  • Strive for Zero Incidents and Zero Accidents by demonstrating ownership and acting as a role model for a safe environment
  • Act and inspire colleagues to challenge the status quo in order to create sustainable solutions
  • Innovate and/or create solutions to support our corporate sustainability strategy 
  • Respect defined standards and targets for sustainability
  • Initiate and support problem-solving initiatives when required
  • Support concept of prototype parts & tools to ensure quality and on-time delivery of prototypes

Qualifications :

Required:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering BS in Science or related discipline
  • Experience in working with CAD department
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in product development including creation of bill-of-materials directing & approving designs and drawings as well as problem solving
  • Familiarity with an ISO/TS16949 QMS and AIAG APQP Processes
  • Strong computer and mathematical skills
  • Travel up to 20%

Recommended:

  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Experience with CAE simulations team is a plus
  • Background in automotive industry design and development processes
