Main Purpose of Job
Provide administrative support to the Principal of the Elementary Department.
POSITION DUTIES
As theSecretary for the Elementary Department this position is responsible formanaging the office in the daily operations of the department. In addition toproviding secretarial support to the Elementary School Principal this positionprovides secretarial support to students families teachers staff andvisitors. Duties include assisting in maintaining program safety and recordstracking and monitoring student attendance making phone calls writingletters tracking and collecting progress reports and report cards andmonitoring and maintaining student and staff well-being. This position willalso be involved with arranging school functions preparing and proofreading the Principalscommunications and coordinating the Principals schedule. This position willcollaborate closely with the Campus Chief Educational Programs Officers officeand with other programs in the school. May include communication with outsidestate and local agencies. May be asked to assume other duties as assigned bythe Elementary School Principal or the Campus Chief Educational ProgramsOfficer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma orequivalent (GED) required. Fluency in English and American Sign Languagerequired.
Experience: Four years performing officesecretarial type or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may besubstituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarialscience or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted atthe rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years ofthe required experience.
Strong English writing skills. Fluency inAmerican Sign Language required.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experiencein a school setting or clerical work preferred. Knowledge of Deaf Communitypreferred. Bachelors degree preferred.
