Position Title: Fall Play - Fight Director
Location: Upper Darby High School
Status: $700.00
Work Period: 8/19/25 to 10/26/25
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
The Fall Play Fight Director will work closely with the creative team specifically the Director and Asst. Director to
effectively design teach train stage and execute meaningful stage combat safely and within the means of high school
aged actors for the 2025 fall play.
- Experience working with high school aged students in a theatrical setting
- Strong ability and willingness to teach and mentor high school aged students who are interested in theatrical production
- Experience and knowledge with a variety of stage combat styles and stage weaponry including unarmed combat swordplay and the use of weapons.
- Strong skills in rhythm musicality and movement
- Ability to create dynamic and engaging fight sequences that enhance the overall narrative of the play
- Knowledgeable in theatrical terminology and methodologies both performing and technical
- Ability to collaborate with all members of the production team to keep continuity and concepts cohesive throughout the production
- Ability to run warmups
- Ability to run rehearsals and breakout rehearsals
- Strong memorization skills
- Must be able to prioritize the safety of the performers and crew over the vision or concept of the show
- Must be able to adapt and adjust fight choreography based on actor capabilities and limitation
- Provide and teach fight call protocol for preshow warm up including running at quarter half and full speed
- Rehearsal Schedule to be discussed with Directors and Production Manager
- Must be available for designer run technical/dress rehearsal(s) and some performances outside of rehearsal schedule
- Must be able to meet physical demands of the position
- Including but not limited to moving scenery jumping crawling running lifting rolling on the floor
